Job Description

Rincon Valley Union School District Job Title:
Special Education Program Specialist Department:
Special Education and/or Rincon Valley Partnership Reports to: Director of Special Education and/or
Director of Rincon Valley Partnership Summary:
The Special Education Program Specialist is responsible for assisting in the administration of the District's Special Education programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
(These apply to Special Education for the District and for Rincon Valley Partnership) 1. Assist in the monitoring of special education and related services for the District; 2. Monitor the number of hours each special education student receives for each service as stated in his/her IEP, including the date the service began; 3. Provide staff development relating to best practices in special education programming; 4. Provide trainings and workshops, as directed; 5. Supervise and evaluate special education instructional assistants and related service providers, as directed; 6. Provide leadership and expertise in assessing, identifying formulating, and implementing the District special education goals and objectives in compliance with state and federal legal mandates and guidelines. 7. Assist in the selection or development of appropriate instructional materials for use in accordance with the District guidelines; 8. Assist in the placement and evaluation of students in special programs, including parent consultation; 9. Assist school administrators and other staff in meeting the needs of all students, including those with exceptional needs; 10. Assist in the coordination of Educationally Related Mental Health Services within the District; 11. Monitors and assists with referral, assessment, identification and placement of students who have disabilities; 12. Attend/facilitate IEP meetings for students served in district, through RVP, or in placements outside of the district; 13. Review and ensure IEP compliance 14. Provide consultant and advisory services to assist principals and teachers in meeting student, individual, and group needs; 15. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of expected responsibility; 9. Familiar with testing programs used in qualifying students for placement; and 10. Ability to evaluate and analyze complex problems, issues, and concerns, recommend appropriate solutions. Education and/or
Experience:
A California Administrative credential is required or enrolled in an administrative credential program. Must hold a credential in a special education service field. Must have at least 5 years of experience providing services in a school setting.
Salary and Work Year:
The Special Education Program Specialist will be placed on the Special Education Program Specialist salary schedule. This position is 200 days.
Pay:
$125,654.00 - $156,550.00 per year
