POSITION SUMMARY

The Ventura County Agriculture Educator delivers SEEAG's flagship programs, Farm-to-Food Lab and STEM Careers Pathways in Agriculture, by providing engaging, hands-on learning experiences for students throughout Ventura County. The Educator leads classroom, outdoor, and farm-based activities that help students understand where their food comes from and explore careers in agriculture and STEM. The Agriculture Educator works closely with the Associate Director of Education, Program Coordinators, and other Educators to prepare and deliver lessons, support field trips, maintain educational materials and sites, and adapt activities to meet student and program needs. The position also supports community events, outreach, and other organizational activities as needed. This is a part-time position with regular work at SEEAG's Ventura office, Petty Ranch, local schools, partner farms, and other education sites throughout Ventura County. As part of a small nonprofit team, the Educator is expected to be flexible, collaborative, and willing to assist with a variety of program and organizational responsibilities. A typical work week includes 24-30 hours of work, with 6 hour days for programs Monday-Thursday and optional hours available on Fridays, as needed. Must live in Ventura County and be willing and able to travel across the County and occasionally to Santa Barbara County (work-related mileage costs are reimbursable).

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Youth Program Support & Education Delivery Deliver and support hands-on educational programs, classroom lessons, farm-based learning experiences, and STEM activities for students in third grade, middle school, and high school for SEEAG's core youth education programs. Assist with on-site program setup and teardown, student engagement, activity facilitation, and program logistics. Educate students about agriculture, the food supply chain, environmental stewardship, and the future of food and resource management. Support experiential workshops that highlight current agricultural practices, technologies, and innovations. Introduce students to agricultural and STEM-related career opportunities. Help students identify resources related to college programs, internships, volunteer opportunities, and career pathways. Assist with curriculum development and refinement for Farm-to-Food Lab and STEM Careers Pathways in Agriculture programs. Organize and maintain inventory of classroom supplies, STEM materials, learning stations, produce, and program resources. Assist with facilitating routine van maintenance (fueling and washing) and preparation for education programs, pickups, and deliveries as applicable. Assist with tracking student participation and other program metrics for grant reporting. Farm & Education Site Maintenance Conduct physical, routine farm maintenance at Petty Ranch, assisting with the preparation and maintenance of learning stations and outdoor education spaces. Support volunteers during Petty Ranch Volunteer Days. Program Operations & Coordination Assist with curriculum development and refinement for Farm-to-Food Lab and STEM Careers Pathways in Agriculture programs. Organize and maintain classroom supplies, STEM materials, learning stations, produce, and program resources. Assist with van and site preparation, including station setup, material organization, and program supplies. Assist with tracking student participation and other program metrics for grant reporting. Social Media & Outreach Capture photo and video content during programs and events. Upload and organize approved content in SEEAG's cloud storage system. SEEAG. EDUCATION & REQUIRED SKILLS

Bachelor's degree in Agriculture (Ag Science, Ag Business, Ag Education), Nutrition, or related relevant experience. Experience in program implementation, developing and delivering educational curricula, community organizing, and/or strategic advocacy campaigns. Knowledgeable in program evaluation methodologies and assessing educational outcomes. Knowledgeable in supporting student success, guidance, and engagement. Experience teaching in a nutritional context (classroom, gardens, kitchen). Experience teaching in an outdoor context (outdoor education, gardens, non-traditional classroom). Strong experience in classroom management. Strong leadership, decision-making, and collaboration skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships within teams and across diverse demographic groups. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Conditions of Employment:

The position requires frequent movement between office, classroom, farm, and outdoor environments. Sit, stand, and/or walk for approximately 80-90% of the workday. Kneel, crouch, reach, climb, walk, and frequently use hands. Speak, hear, read, and write in English. Frequently use a computer, keyboard, and mouse. Lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds frequently and heavier objects occasionally, with appropriate assistance when needed. Work outdoors on farms and at school sites in varying weather conditions. Drive to and from school, farm, and partner sites as required. Perform routine farm maintenance and other physically active program duties. Adapt to changing program schedules and assist with administrative or other organizational tasks as needed in a small nonprofit environment.

Environmental Conditions of Employment:

The position will perform the majority of work split between a typical office environment, school classrooms and outdoors. The incumbent can expect exposure to typical office conditions, such as sitting for prolonged periods, working with a computer, and using office equipment. However, when working outside on farms and in schools, the incumbent can expect exposure to a variety of environmental conditions, which may include:

When working on farms or in schools, the incumbent may be exposed to loud noises from machinery, equipment, or students.

When working on farms, the incumbent may be exposed to dust and other particulate matter from farming activities.

When working outside in the summer months, the incumbent may be exposed to high temperatures and heat stress.

When working outside in the winter months, the incumbent may be exposed to cold temperatures and inclement weather.

Pay:
