EMPLOYMENT STATUS
: Part Time The Kalmar Nyckel Foundation (KNF) seeks a part-time Educator to assist with various on-site educational programs and events and off-site outreach programs. Occasional weekend availability required. This position will begin immediately. The Educator will work alongside the Education and Outreach Assistant to deliver educational programming to students K-12. They will help prepare the site for field trips and community events and help ensure that programs run smoothly. KNF seeks applicants with strong communication skills and an ability to work with people from different backgrounds. Applicants must be responsible, professional, and self-starters. Experience in early childhood/museum education and interest in local and maritime history preferred.
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Participate in the delivery of educational material and run various education stations for KNF's school field trip programs.
  • Deliver off-site educational programs with other staffers and volunteers. Requires a vehicle to transport materials and willingness to travel.
  • Assist with public programming and events.
  • Cleaning the facilities after educational programs such as the lunchrooms, bathrooms and taking out the trash.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  • Opportunities to work in other part-time positions at KNF.
Additional Responsibilities and Duties May Also Include:
  • Assist with instructing for KNF's Maritime Activity & Skills Training (MAST) Course, programs require the enforcement of safety, a minor level of physicality, and night and weekend hours.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Strong customer relationship and communication skills with diverse audiences.
  • Responsible, professional, and adaptable to changing conditions.
  • Works well as part of a team and independently.
  • Strong computer skills and technological ability (including proficiency with mobile devices and audio-visual equipment).
  • Compliance with criminal background check and US Coast Guard drug-testing program.
