Initiatives in STEM (iSTEM): The Center for Initiatives in iSTEM (iSTEM) was created with a core mission to promote and enhance College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) and College of Sciences (COS) collaborative efforts on STEM education and educational research by developing partnerships with other colleges, centers, and institutes on campus, as well as other stakeholders with a similar interest in STEM initiatives. To position UCF in Florida and nationally as a hub for STEM education, iSTEM has three areas of emphasis to improve the pipeline and produce a better STEM workforce: Undergraduate Student Success, K-12 outreach and Faculty Collaboration.
The Opportunity:
The Coordinator, EXCEL/COMPASS will be responsible to the iSTEM Executive Director and Director of
EXCEL/COMPASS.
The individual selected will coordinate and manage a variety of activities in support of the Center's educational and research efforts specifically related to EXCEL/COMPASS and other STEM undergraduate student programs. The coordinator will assist with the responsibilities of
EXCEL/COMPASS
including specialized advising, progression tracking and oversight of the project tasks associated with the program.

Academic Support Coordinator II Responsibilities:
Responsible for the specialized advising and progression tracking of EXCEL and COMPASS program undergraduate students in the STEM disciplines housed with the Colleges of Engineering and Computer Science, Optics and Photonics, Medicine and Sciences. Assistance for participants includes but is not limited to department course scheduling, student registration, orientation and retention management programming, identifying and helping to resolve barriers that impede academic success, monitoring student progress and performance, analyzing problem areas, determining solutions, conducting intervention activities for students when needed and responsibility for maintaining the student tracking systems and other university advisement record keeping systems (PS, MKS, Peg Path, degree audit, dashboards). Assists with the coordination of the undergraduate serving programs EXCEL and COMPASS. These responsibilities include but are not limited to the troubleshooting of program issues for students and staff, the admission and selection process and associated tasks. Provides initiative in the planning and execution of on-campus and local recruiting activities outside the campus community. Under the direction of the Associate Director, assists in the implementation of the program's goals and strategies as well as the collection and reporting of the appropriate assessment measures. Performs collection and data mining of information on students, university community or any external area. Assists with scheduling assignments of program graduate teaching assistants, peer coaches and lead student assistants. Includes responsibility for the Center student tutor tracking system and other university advisement record keeping systems (PS, EAB, myKnights audit). Assists with maintenance of the technical support services necessary to administer department projects. This includes working with the appropriate college staff on social media and web content management of the program sites and troubleshooting and accuracy of online databases used for admissions and tracking.
