Certified Montessori Guide (Lead Teacher) - Primary (3-6) Studio Gulf Breeze Montessori School | Gulf Breeze, Florida Gulf Breeze Montessori School (GBMS) is seeking a Certified Montessori Guide to serve as Lead Teacher in our Primary (3-6) studio. This is a full-time lead role for an experienced, high-fidelity Montessori educator who is passionate about guiding children ages approximately 2½-6 in a prepared environment that prioritizes independence, concentration, social-emotional growth, and deep connection to nature. About Gulf Breeze Montessori School We are a small, growing private Montessori school on a beautiful live-oak property in Gulf Breeze, Florida. Founded in 2019, we offer high-fidelity Montessori education with a strong emphasis on time outdoors, agency, and social-emotional wellbeing. Children here experience long uninterrupted work cycles, freedom within limits, and a partnership approach with adults. We are in an exciting period of expansion. In January 2026 we launched our mixed-age 6-12 Elementary studio—the newest program in our community. Looking ahead, we are actively planning additional studios and aim to become the first secondary program in the area that extends through high school (serving children from 12 months through 12th grade). Joining our Primary team means contributing to a school that is building something lasting and distinctive on the Gulf Coast. Role Overview As Lead Guide in the Primary studio, you will collaborate with two assistants to support a mixed-age group of up to 31 children. You will uphold authentic Montessori principles while partnering closely with families and the broader school community.
Key responsibilities include:
Preparing and maintaining a beautiful, orderly, child-centered Primary environment Observing children carefully and delivering individualized and small-group lessons across practical life, sensorial, language, mathematics, and cultural areas Protecting the uninterrupted work cycle and supporting children's concentration, independence, and social development Guiding positive social interactions, conflict resolution, and emotional regulation with warmth and consistency Collaborating daily with assistant guides and communicating thoughtfully with families Participating in school community life, including outdoor experiences, nature-based activities, and school-wide events Contributing to the continued growth of GBMS as we expand our programs Qualifications Current Montessori certification for ages 3-6 from a recognized training center (IMC, AMI, AMS, or equivalent high-fidelity program required), or in progress Experience as a lead or assistant guide in a Primary classroom required Deep understanding of and commitment to authentic Montessori philosophy and practice Strong observation skills, patience, warmth, and the ability to foster independence and community Comfort with outdoor learning, nature connection, and a flexible, child-led approach Excellent communication and collaboration skills with children, families, and colleagues Ability to meet Florida licensing and background-check requirements Why Join Us You will work in a supportive, non-hierarchical team that values high-fidelity Montessori practice, time in nature, and respectful partnership with children and families.
