GOLF & LIFE SKILLS LEAD COACH
(for part time, seasonal) First Tee

First Tee was created in 1997 by the World Golf Foundation to provide young people of all ethnic and economic backgrounds an opportunity to develop, through golf and character education, life enhancing values such as honesty, integrity, and sportsmanship. By seamlessly integrating the game of golf with a life skills curriculum, we create active learning experiences that build inner strength, self confidence, and resilience that kids can carry into everything they do. These character education programs are offered on golf courses, in schools, and throughout underserved neighborhoods across Collier County. First Tee Life Skills Experience is the unique component that sets First Tee apart from other junior golf and youth development programs. Mission Statement To impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character and life enhancing values through the game of golf. Reports to The Lead Coach reports to the Chief Program Officer but will also receive direction and supervision from the Program Coordinator. Supervises Kids and volunteers as they relate to programming. Employment Status Part time, non-exempt [Hourly Rate] per hour, up to 25 hours per week. Monday to Friday 3:00pm to 7:45pm Saturday 7:45am to 2:30pm Job Summary The Lead Coach is responsible for teaching all aspects of the First Tee curriculum to participants ages 7-18. The Lead Coach will be a highly visible member of the community, representing First Tee
  • Naples/Collier throughout the service area. They will embody First Tee's strong commitment to its youth and help promote the organization throughout the community. Key criteria for success in position: Experienced Golfer
  • Knowledge of and passion for the game is a must. Coach/Teacher
  • At the core, this position is about coaching and teaching kids through effective lesson delivery and strong time management. Mentor & Role Model
  • Participants are always watching; coaches must consistently display the values they are teaching.
Responsibilities Provide a safe, welcoming environment that creates space for learning. Prepare for the lesson by reviewing the plans in advance, and execute them in a way that motivates and inspires participants. Set up and tear down equipment, and maintain the quality of equipment and the academy or golf course, assisting in the development and selection of training aids and materials as needed. Communicate regularly with families, your site location, volunteers, and participants, engaging volunteers to support programming. Continue to grow your own golf knowledge and First Tee curriculum expertise, becoming proficient in the First Tee Age-Based Curriculum and First Tee's Commitment to Being a Game Changer through the First Tee Coach Program. Other duties as assigned by the Chief Program Officer or Program Coordinator. Qualifications Ability to work during program hours: late afternoons, evenings, and weekends during the school year; mornings and some weekends during the summer. Golf knowledge and experience. Minimum one year of experience teaching or coaching youth.
