Coordinator Somerset Academy Avenir Palm Beach Gardens, Florida Grades K-5 | Public Charter School Position Overview Somerset Academy Avenir is seeking a passionate, student-centered Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Coordinator to support the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional success of students with disabilities in a collaborative K-5 learning environment. The ESE Coordinator will oversee ESE compliance, lead student support processes, coordinate services, and partner closely with teachers, families, and related service providers to ensure students receive high-quality individualized support aligned with Florida statutes and best practices. This is an exciting opportunity to help build and strengthen inclusive systems at a growing, innovative public charter school serving the Avenir community in Palm Beach Gardens. Key Responsibilities Compliance & Program Oversight Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and district regulations related to IDEA, Section 504, and Florida ESE requirements Manage and monitor IEP timelines, eligibility documentation, progress monitoring, reevaluations, and compliance records Facilitate and lead IEP meetings and staffing conferences Maintain accurate ESE records and student data in compliance systems Student Support & Instructional Leadership Coordinate & provide ESE services and support implementation of accommodations and modifications Collaborate with teachers to develop inclusive instructional practices and intervention strategies SupportMTSS/RTI
processes and data-driven decision-making Monitor student progress toward IEP/intervention goals and academic achievement Collaboration & Communication Serve as the primary liaison between families, teachers, therapists, and outside agencies Provide guidance and support to teachers regarding differentiation, classroom accommodations, and behavior support Coordinate related service providers including speech, OT, PT, counseling, and behavioral services Foster strong relationships with parents through proactive communication and partnership Professional Development Provide training and coaching for staff related to ESE best practices, inclusion, accommodations, and compliance Support schoolwide initiatives focused on student achievement and equitable access Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Exceptional Student Education or related field Valid Florida Educator Certification in ESE & Reading (K-12) Knowledge of IDEA, Florida ESE compliance requirements, and IEP development Experience working with elementary-aged students Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills Preferred Master's degree in Education or Educational Leadership Previous experience as an ESE or SBT Coordinator, ESE lead teacher, or Interventionist Experience in charter schools or school startup environments ESOL endorsement preferred Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Health, dental, and vision insurance options 401K retirement plan and matching Professional development opportunities Supportive and collaborative school culture Why Somerset Academy Avenir?
