This role acts as a strategic partner and advisor to members, focused on engagement, growth, adoption of Alliance programs, and long-term member success. This is not a reactive support role. The Member Development Manager is expected to proactively connect with members, understand their business goals and challenges, identify opportunities for increased participation, and help members take advantage of Alliance Flooring programs, education, technology, and vendor relationships. The ideal candidate is relationship-driven, consultative, organized, and energized by helping independent businesses grow. Key Responsibilities Proactive Member Relationship Management Build strong, ongoing relationships with assigned member accounts Conduct regular outreach through phone calls, virtual meetings, store visits, and event interactions Develop a deep understanding of each member's business, goals, challenges, and opportunities Serve as a trusted advisor and advocate for members within Alliance Flooring Member Engagement & Growth Drive awareness, adoption, and participation in Alliance programs and initiatives Help members maximize rebate opportunities and overall membership value Educate members on available technology, marketing, merchandising, training, and vendor solutions Identify opportunities to increase engagement with: Perfect Home Private label programs Education and events Website and digital tools Visualizers and lead-generation programs Vendor partnerships and preferred programs Strategic Account Development Monitor member engagement, participation trends, and growth opportunities Partner with members on business improvement conversations and strategic planning Identify at-risk members and proactively work to improve engagement and retention Collaborate with Regional Managers and leadership on member growth strategies Voice of the Member Gather member feedback and communicate insights to leadership and cross-functional teams Identify trends, needs, frustrations, and opportunities across the membership base Advocate for member needs while balancing organizational priorities Education & Community Building Encourage participation in conventions, webinars, peer groups, and networking opportunities Help connect members with relevant resources, vendor partners, and peer relationships Support development of member education initiatives and engagement programs Internal Collaboration & Process Improvement Work closely with Marketing, Operations, Accounting, Technology Partners, and Leadership Maintain accurate account notes, activity tracking, and follow-up documentation Contribute ideas and recommendations to improve member engagement and experience Qualifications Retail flooring experience required 3+ years of account management, customer success, relationship management, sales, or business development experience Strong consultative communication and relationship-building skills Proven ability to manage and grow business relationships Highly organized with strong follow-through Comfortable having strategic business conversations with owners and leadership teams Ability to analyze account trends and identify growth opportunities Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office Ideal Traits Relationship-first mindset Naturally proactive and self-motivated Strategic thinker with business curiosity Strong emotional intelligence Professional presence with independent business owners Collaborative and adaptable Passionate about helping members succeed
