Casual Description •Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University Hawai'i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees such as paid leave and holidays. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

Casual Hire temporary appointment is expected begin May 2026 or soon thereafter. Not to exceed 89 days. Duties and Responsibilities Develops and coordinates the University of Hawaii at Hilo Bonner Leader Program in compliance with National Bonner Program guidelines Develops and implements plans to identify, recruit, and select students Tracks student's participation and manages records utilizing web-based reporting Systems Addresses concerns and issues related to student performance and participation5. Functions as the primary liaison with community partners Monitors partnership progress with respect to community impact and student development Oversees affiliation and communicates with the Bonner Foundation Plans and implements key events, such as Orientation, the first-year service trip, the Celebration of Learning and Summer Leadership Institute. Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in any field and 0 years of professional experience Demonstrate knowledge and experience working with student in organizations, teams, associations, or other structured groups Familiarity with post-secondary collegiate mission and goals related to student-focused programs, i.e. leadership development and civic engagement Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse students, faculty, staff, and community Demonstrated ability to effectively organize and carry out multiple tasks and manage work priorities Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in a variety of situations Desirable Qualifications Experience with the Bonner Leader Program Two (2) years of professional experience that supports student development and success Considerable knowledge and experience leading students in organization, teams, associations, or other structured groups Certification of Participation in professional development programs on leadership principles and/or in leadership development programming Demonstrated ability to establish positive working relationships with community organizations, faculty, staff and students
