SUMMARY OF DUTIES
: This position is in the Personal and Professional Development (P&PD) Branch; Marine and Family Programs; Marine Corps Community Services. The purpose of the Career Services Specialist is to perform a full range of career coaching duties and advisement in the areas of employment, educion, vocional/technical programs, and credentialing. The purpose of the Career Services Specialist (Transition Readiness Program (TRP) Advisor) is to perform a full range of career coaching duties and advisement in the areas of employment, educion, vocional/technical programs, and credentialing. The incumbent is a member of the Transition Readiness Program (TRP) th assists military members as they transition to civilian life.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in the development of plans for current and projected programs to achieve goals and objectives. Collects, verifies, and adjusts da from diverse sources and performs qualitive analysis. Prepares reports and input for budgets. Research informion on local and nional career, educion and/or recruitment processes and standards, and labor market trends and produces supporting merials for distribution to clients. Organizes special events, such as job and career fairs and facilites and/or supports all other assigned activities and events. Promotes awareness of the programs through targeted outreach efforts, including marketing campaigns, informional sessions, and networking events, aimed increasing visibility and understanding of the available services. Utilizes and maintains systems of outreach stregies and community partnerships in an effort to ensure widest utilizion of programs, standard opering procedures, and methods of technology-based service delivery models. Assists in the establishment and maintenance of relionships with corpore industry personnel, small businesses, local chambers of commerce, ste employment services, universities, and prive employment agencies to develop a network of potential employment opportunities for clients. Collabores with employers to cultive job opportunities, foster stregic partnerships and professional relionships to assist clients in achieving their professional goals. Maintains continuous communicion with military members to assist with their completion of the Transition Readiness Seminar (TRS) requirements in support of their post-separion goals as well as Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC) leadership and management, branches of the DoD, external agencies and inter-agency partners, academic institutions, and nonprofit organizions to collabore and provide continuity of services through referrals and warm handovers and to support activities and events. Executes HQMC established da collection, reporting processes and procedures. Documents and reports services provided, and support rendered. Supports program evaluion efforts; participes in the Inspector General of the Marine Corps¿ (IGMC) Comprehensive Command Inspections (CCI), prepares reports, after-action requirements, and follow-on support for all assigned unit-level inspections through the Commanding General¿s Inspection Program (CGIP). Recommends corrective actions and supports follow-up inspections. Supports and participes in the Marine Corps Family Program (MCFP) Certificion; participes in MCFP Certificion interviews and observions as requested. Evalues and interprets da to identify and clarify issues and concerns; conducts, organizes, and provides program analysis to ensure functional needs are met for programs and services. Provides individualized instruction, advice, and guidance to assist the clients with their completion of the Individual Development Plan (IDP) and Individual Transition Plan (ITP) in support of their post-separion goals. Advises clients on the development of skills required by employers and provides informion on the entrance requirements to colleges, universities, and vocional/technical institutions. Coaches clients with completion of the individualized Initial Counseling (IC) and Capstone Review and properly documents their completion on the DD Form 2648 eForm. Expert ability to communice effectively and professionally in writing and in person with various levels of technical, professional, management and administrive personnel. Must also have skills to organize and coordine multiple projects simultaneously. Expert ability to work independently and follow through on assigned tasks. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relionships using tact, diplomacy, emotional intelligence, confidentiality, and overall professionalism. Must be able to incorpore and rapidly adapt to changing facets, priorities, and procedures. Comprehensive knowledge of the administrive laws, policies, regulions, and precedents applicable to the administrion of the career services to include knowledge of the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Marine Corps program goals and objectives, the sequence and timing of key program events and milestones, and methods of evaluing program accomplishments. In depth knowledge of IGMC functional area checklist process and execution. Highly proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software suites. Knowledge of management and automed informion systems, and software applicions. Knowledge of personal and professional development requirements and program execution. Expert ability to ascertain needs from clients and provide approprie guidance. Knowledge and experience of career coaching, career development and advising techniques to support reintegrion, educion, and workforce development of clients. Ability to interpret self-assessment results and determine client compibility and requirements for post-transition goals. Ability to understand workforce standards and labor market trends. Ability to collect, evalue, and dissemine informion and assess and measure the organizions¿ and other serviced populions¿ trends, concerns, and needs. Thorough knowledge of employment mters and principles. Knowledge of and expert ability to evalue, plan, and deliver training in both classroom and online settings to a wide variety of audiences. Knowledge of and ability to use current educion practices in career advisement. Must be able obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. IAW with MCO 1700.31 and all subsequent updes, must possess the Certified Career Services Provider (CCSP) credential, through the Nional Career Development Associion, or ability to obtain and maintain credential within two years of employment.
