40 hours/week Full-Time; varies - regular extended, evening and/or weekend hours. Some holidays will be required.

$2,030.13-$2,333.18 Bi-Weekly
DESCRIPTION
Incumbent serves as Recreation Coordinator for the Parks and Recreation Department, responsible for planning, implementing, promoting and supervising the Department recreation programs at McAllister Center. Plans, schedules and coordinates diversified recreation programs, including assessing citizen needs/interests, evaluating programs/activities, and making procedural changes as needed. Assists in scheduling and coordinating use of facilities. Opens and closes McAllister Center. Supervises and directs assigned personnel, including interviewing applicants, hiring, making work assignments, evaluating performance, providing training and corrective instruction. Communicates daily with Department personnel to coordinate activities and resolve problems as needed. Promotes McAllister Center recreation programs throughout the community by making public speaking presentations, developing brochures/fliers, writing news media releases and updating the McAllister website and all social media. Serves as Department liaison with other recreation service agencies, and represents the Department at various community activities and assists with organizing community activities and special events. Regularly assists Department office personnel as needed. Prepares annual report of recreation activities, and assists in preparing annual division budget, including projecting payroll and other costs, and making recommendations to Supervisor. Maintains current knowledge of trends and developments in the recreation field by periodically attending seminars/workshops. Attendance is an essential function of this position. Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor Degree in Parks and Recreation or related field, or equivalent combination of education and previous experience in parks and recreation. Possession of or ability to obtain certification in CPR and First Aid within required time period. Working knowledge of and ability to make practical application of principles and practices of recreation program management. Ability to supervise and direct assigned personnel, including interviewing applicants, making work assignments, evaluating performance, providing training and corrective instruction. Must have an enthusiastic and engaging personality, be highly organized, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must possess ability to thrive in a team-setting amidst frequent distractions and interruptions. Must enjoy working with children. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with co-workers, other City departments, vendors, funding and regulatory agencies, and the public including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities. Must maintain a positive professional appearance, demeanor and attitude, and work harmoniously with all contacts in an enthusiastic and cooperative manner. Must be able to meet attendance requirements and have the ability to occasionally work extended, weekend and/or evening hours and occasionally travel for seminars or programs.
