Job Description

The Barren River District Health Department serves the residents and visitors of Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Hart, Logan, Metcalfe, Simpson, and Warren counties of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. BRDHD staff are committed to providing essential public health services in the community. Our mission is to serve our community with a commitment to excellence in quality service by protecting and improving the environment and health of people through prevention, surveillance, education, and partnerships. The Barren River District Health Department has an opening for a full-time HANDS Specialist I , Grade 14. The minimum hourly rate is $17.90. This position will be based in Warren, but will be expected to travel to other counties as needed. What is the HANDS Program? The Kentucky Health Access Nurturing Development Services (HANDS) program is a voluntary home visitation program for any new or expectant parents. HANDS supports families as they build healthy, safe environments for the optimal growth and development of children.
Responsibilities:
Conducting social assessments in the clinic and home setting Determining the eligibility for the HANDS program Providing families with child development and parenting information Linking families to community resources. Completing various forms, monthly reports, and documentation of case records. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
The minimum requirement is a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Nursing, Early Childhood Education or a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services or closely related field. An Associate degree in Nursing with licensure in Kentucky or a compact state and two (2) years of experience will substitute for education. Applicants must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license. Travel will be required to other counties as needed after orientation and training is complete.

From $17.90 per hour
