Job Description Program Manager A Baby Center A Program of the Cape Cod Council of Churches
POSITION TITLE
A Baby Center Program Manager
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The primary purpose of A Baby Center is to provide baby supplies and assistance to income eligible families with children under five who live on Cape Cod or the Islands. Acting as a spokesperson for the program, and as a representative of the Cape Cod Council of Churches, the Program Manager will at all times uphold the mission of
A Baby Center:
to serve without judgment the youngest in our community. To manage the Center's day to day operations including, data, stock and volunteer management, public relations and correspondence. The Program Manager is responsible for interpreting daily business and providing support for the Program Assistants. The Program Manager is responsible for collecting and documenting important data and is responsible for collecting and preparing orders for our satellite programs and collaborators.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
  • Support the Mission of the Cape Cod Council of Churches and its program A Baby Center.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a mature, caring manner, with children and families in need, demonstrating compassion and appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Experience working well and motivating staff and volunteers, with use of creative problem solving skills and a sense of humor.
  • Organizational skills for managing inventory at all ABC sites and warehouses.
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse groups of people including low-income, and marginalized populations. ie (teen parents, homeless persons, unemployed, in recovery, veterans, foster parents, grandparents LGTBQ+, diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds).
  • Proven communications skills including: strong verbal, written, phone, public speaking, and effective computer skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to multitask and manage change.

  • Knowledge of issues facing families and individuals struggling with local societal challenges. (economy, housing, food insecurity, etc.)
  • Willingness to actively participate in all fundraising efforts including: Annual Appeal, fundraiser planning, oversight, and maintaining relations with donors and other contributors and funding sources.

  • Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs multiple times per day
  • Valid Massachusetts Drivers License
HOURS REQUIRED
Up to 25 hours per week (This position is dependent on designated program funding)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational and Administrative:
  • Under the direction of the Director of A Baby Center, help to manage A Baby Center sites and site orders (secure all necessary supplies, manage donations, organize office practices,)
  • Manage stock, & stockrooms, coordinate with the Program Assistants and volunteers
  • Serve clients in a caring professional manner. Maintain confidentiality and professional workplace boundaries.

Program Staff:
Communicate clearly, share tasks, model effective and positive attitude, praise work well done and demonstrate positive work ethic.
  • Manage volunteers including: recruiting, training, retention, and appropriate task assignment. based on skill level, recruit volunteers.
  • Create and Maintain a positive workplace atmosphere for clients, staff and volunteers by supporting the mission and vision of the program and the Program Director
  • Assist the Director in the process of purchasing, ordering, shopping for and stocking diapers, wipes, formula, period supplies and other tangible goods as needed.
  • Write Reports and track data as directed by the Program Director
  • Maintain and provide training on computer operating system in coordination with the Program Director
  • Attend Advisory Committee meetings

  • Help to carry out fundraising strategies and events in consultation with the Director
  • Sustain positive relationships with donors
  • Maintain thank you letters and donor log
  • Help to manage mailings and electronic communications with the program Director
  • Assist the Cape Cod Council of Churches with the Generations of Hope Event and other fundraising events as needed.
Community Liaison:
  • Promote awareness of the work and mission of A Baby Center
  • In coordination with the program Director, speaking at functions to promote relationships with churches and civic organizations
  • Attend continuing education opportunities as they become available and would benefit A Baby Center
RESPONSIBILITIES MAY ALSO INCLUDE OTHER APPROPRIATE DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
Relationships:
  • Report directly to the Program Director
  • Maintain a productive, professional relationship with all clients, staff and volunteers at A Baby Center, (land lord and their staff) the Executive Director of the Cape Cod Council of Churches, all other Council Staff and will attend staff meetings and Annual Assembly.
At the discretion of the Program Director, the Program Manager may meet with the Council's Board of Directors.
