The N172 Resilient Communications & Networking Department focuses on creating and fielding adaptive communications and networking infrastructures to successfully execute different missions in contested environments. DoD communications needs pose unique challenges to operate globally in dynamic or denied environments including the effects of electronic warfare. The department's work areas include RF communications, networking, modeling and simulation, system integrations, systems engineering, and software programming. N172 is seeking a Project Leader (PL) to fill an exciting opportunity to lead the Mobility Air Forces Network Exchange Unified System (MAF NEXUS) project.
MAF NEXUS
is a new program to deliver capability to integrate data, applications, and sensors from various platforms and sources into a federated, interoperable system that provides comprehensive situational awareness and enhanced decision-making capabilities to the Mobility fleet.
MAF NEXUS
also evolves the Mobility fleet connectivity with the DAF Battle Network.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Work includes: Develop project objectives and work program incorporating innovative and technically challenging FFRDC appropriate work. Coordinate objectives and work program with AF program office for execution throughout the FY. Provide continuous strategic guidance to continue to improve impact on the joint community and position

for the contested fight. Engage with the sponsor and joint community to understand the program needs and shape the MITRE work program to address those needs. Identify MITRE-internal and external innovation opportunities that can be injected/transitioned into the work program. Execute project work delivering technical quality and impactful deliverables to the sponsor. Engage with sponsor and joint community to increase the likelihood that they accept the MITRE work and transition it to terminal program offices and the field. Identify, lead, and manage diverse set of staff members and ensure working together to deliver products that achieve project objectives. Identify and bridge seams across projects and departments to increase project impact Collaborate with Department Manager, Chief Engineer and other division leadership to ensure the project delivers high quality and impactful products
Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 8 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 5 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience. Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skillsStrong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate across multiple organizations and engineering disciplines Strong leadership, technical management, and interpersonal skills Ability to engage with the joint services and become a trusted partner; allowing MITRE to perform engineering to address their needs Deep understanding of communications systems, waveform development, FPGA and embedded systems development, and experience applying these skills Must have an active Top Secret/SCI U.S Government issued Security Clearance. Per the U.S. Government's eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance. This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site.
