Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Toddler and Preschool Program Coordinator supports high-quality programming and operations for the toddler and preschool classrooms within the Early Learning Center (ELC). This leadership role ensures alignment with licensing requirements, curriculum standards, family engagement practices, and the ELC's mission. The Toddler and Preschool Program Coordinator collaborates closely with classroom teachers, families and ELC Leadership to promote a developmentally appropriate, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all children. As a part of the Leadership Team, this position works Monday through Friday sharing opening and closing shifts with the Leadership Team. There will be occasional times when other hours including evenings and weekends are expected to support deeper family engagement and stronger community partnerships.OUR CULTURE

Classroom Leadership & Support- Provide day-to-day guidance and mentorship to toddler and preschool teaching staff.
- Support classroom coverage and transitions when needed to maintain staffing ratios.
- Conduct regular observations and assist with professional development and coaching.
- Ensure the implementation of curriculum and assessment tools (e.g., Creative Curriculum, Teaching Strategies GOLD). Program Quality & Compliance
- Monitor classroom environments to meet or exceed licensing and quality standards (e.g., QRIS, NAEYC, and EEC).
- Assist with classroom planning, material management, and safety practices.
- Maintain updated records for children, including incident reports, developmental checklists, and attendance logs. Family Engagement
- Serve as primary point of contact for families in the toddler and preschool programs.
- Partner with families to support children's growth and address developmental or behavioral concerns.
- Plan and support family engagement events, conferences, and transitions (e.g., to Pre-K or Kindergarten). Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with the Director of Early Learning and/or Assistant Director of Early Leaning, and other members of the ELC Leadership Team to support a cohesive program.
- Participate in team meetings, leadership huddles, and professional learning communities.
- Foster a positive, respectful work culture aligned with the ELC's values and mission.
- Fill in for classroom teacher vacancies as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- EEC Lead Teacher Certification (Preschool and Toddler) required; Director I or II preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a licensed early childhood setting, including experience in toddler and preschool classrooms.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to mentor and coach staff.
- Strong understanding of child development, curriculum interpretations, and family engagement best practices.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Portuguese strongly preferred
- Complete understanding and compliance with EEC licensing regulations.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to meet all Massachusetts EEC licensing requirements, including required background checks and fingerprinting (when applicable).
- Completion and ongoing maintenance of CPR and First Aid certification.
- Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
ABUSE RISK MANAGEMENT
Employees who directly supervise youth will:- Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth.
- Attend required abuse risk management training.
- Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising youth.
- Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
- Follow employee and volunteer screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk.
- Provide employees and volunteers with on-going supervision and training related to abuse risk.
- Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with youth.
- Require employees and volunteers to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse risk.
- Respond quickly to policy and procedure violations using the organization's progressive disciplinary procedures.
- Respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors.
- Follow mandated reporting requirements.
- Communicate to all employees and volunteers the organization's commitment to protect their youth from abuse.
- Report essential abuse risk management information to the board of directors.
Supervisors and administrators will:
- Follow employee and volunteer screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse.
- Provide employees and volunteers with ongoing supervision and training related to abuse risk.
- Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with youth.
- Require employees and volunteers to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse risk.
- Respond quickly to policy and procedure violations using the organization's progressive disciplinary procedures.
- Respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors.
- Follow mandated reporting requirements.

- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, and move around the work environment.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust.
- Ability to respond quickly to emergencies and changing situations.
- Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds when necessary.
