Job Description:

Start Strong Ambassadors support and encourage new students during the Start Strong Program. Ambassadors act as knowledgeable guides for new students and as a point of contact for questions or concerns. Ambassadors will work up to 20 hours during the Fall, 2026 semester.

Detailed Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Serve as a positive role model. Serve as an energetic and enthusiastic peer to help new students to engage and participate in the Start Strong Program. Develop and maintain relationships and provide assistance and support for students with a focus on a smooth transition, acclimation and sense of belonging. Help facilitate and encourage attendance in the Start Strong Program. Assist program staff with programs, sessions and activities. Participate in programs and activities alongside peers.

Role and Duties:

A role model and advocate. Knowledgeable guide for first-year and transfer students. A facilitator that provides resources and creates a welcoming space for all students. Support and maintain student compliance with all standards of program and student conduct.

Requirements:

Rising sophomore, junior or senior. Be in good academic and conduct standing. Demonstrates good interpersonal and communication skills. Have a genuine desire to help their peers succeed. Demonstrate leadership potential. Be self-motivated with a positive attitude.

Additional Information:

This position is open only to students currently enrolled at MCLA. Preference will be given to students who were former Start Strong participants.
