SY 2026-2027
] The Expanding Horizons program is seeking teachers and paraprofessionals to join the team providing afterschool programming and Clubs to Collins Middle School students. Expanding Horizons is an afterschool and summer program operated by SPS and LEAP for Education. The program offers three 10-12 week sessions. Staff may apply to work all three or select specific sessions. Program Schedule for

September 28
  • December 17, 2026 broken into two 6-week sessions (Sept 28
  • November 5 and Nov 8
  • Dec 17).
Available Positions:
Teachers/Facilitators are needed to lead Enrichment opportunities on Monday & Wednesday or Tuesday & Thursday for two 6-week sessions. Facilitators do not need to be certified in a specific area. Facilitators will need to develop a plan for the 6-week session (template provided) that incorporates hands-on activities, some student choice, and student development of a project or final product (as a group or in pairs or individually). LEAP will provide some curriculum materials and ideas for facilitators to work with if desired. Hours are 3:45-5:25 (this includes 1.25 hrs instructional time and 15 min prep/clean up on either side of instruction. Teachers are paid for some upfront planning time and 1 hours a week for prep during program session).
Compensation:
Contractual rate for SPS teachers. Other educators (including paraprofessionals) will be paid at $30
  • 35 an hour.
Hiring preference will be given to teachers interested in teaching back-to-back 6-week sessions that are connected in content. Specific areas of interest for Fall Enrichments include: The Horror Genre in Film and Books Scary Stories Creation (instructional materials already developed), Engineering and Building Challenges Basic Coding Art and Identity Sculpture Escape Room Creation Game Board Design and Creation Fundamentals of Cooking Cookbook Design We are open to other ideas . If you have a special interest or talent that you would like to share with students, this is a great opportunity! If the Fall is not a doable time for you but you are potentially interested in our Winter or Spring sessions, please let us know. Winter will be one 10-11 week session and Spring will be 5-6 week sessions. Group Leaders

Key Responsibilities :
Support in overall program structure and to ensure students engagement and safety Guide and support a consistent cohort of 12-18 students during PBL / enrichments Build strong youth-adult relationships while modeling positive behavior and social-emotional learning (SEL) skills. Assist with activity facilitation, academic support, transition monitoring, and daily setup/breakdown. Lead Activity Strand experiences in a variety of areas at end of program day (35 min block and resources provided) Other duties as assigned by the site coordinator.
