Springfield Program Coordinator Resilient Community Arts Springfield, MA Job Details Part-time $24 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Spanish Teamwork English Working with students Organizational skills Full Job Description Resilient Community Arts (RCA) is a seeking a part-time (~8 hours/week) Springfield Program Coordinator to support our Maple Street Artists Afterschool program, Meals and Making Program and other Intergenerational Art Programs in the South End Neighborhood. This role will report to RCA's Executive Director. The Maple Street Artists Afterschool program is free for students in grades 2

• 5 at Milton Bradley School in Springfield, MA.

Once a week, at school dismissal, program instructors walk the group of 25 students 1 block to our Springfield studio location at 45 Maple Street. Students enjoy a snack, group check-in, and 2 hours of art making before being picked up by their caregivers at 5:30pm. The 2026-2027 program will take place on Thursdays, and potentially a second day on Tuesdays in early 2027. The Meals and Making Program, is a new initiative funded by The Beveridge Foundation, in collaboration with the Open Pantry meal services at 45 Maple. From 12:30-2:00 on Tuesdays, RCA will facilitate art making opportunities for Open Pantry guests after their lunch. Guests are a wide range of ages and abilities. Many struggle with housing security, mental health, and addiction. There is opportunity for more Intergenerational Programs to be developed to serve the South End Neighborhood. In Spring of 2026, RCA hosted the first Springfield Doodle-a-thon at 45 Maple. A successful candidate for this position will be motivated to fundraise and create additional programming like this to serve the neighborhood.

Pay:

4 hrs/week @ $28/hr, 4 hrs/week @ $20/hr Totaling 8 hrs/week at an average of $24/hr

Responsibilities:

• Material inventory management and restocking / ordering
• Art material set up & clean up
• Support students in creating unique, explorative artwork in a range of mediums, ranging from painting, drawing, printmaking, collage, sculpture & more.

Working within TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior) frameworks is encouraged.

• Support small groups of students in a demonstration of new art projects or techniques and in "art share" discussions about their work.
• Share your own artistic skillsets to generate curriculum and activities
• Supervise children & ensure safety during school dismissal and afterschool program dismissal. Building security personnel are on site during dismissal.
• Program staff must be available for program times (2:30pm
• 6:00pm) on all Thursday afterschool session dates.
• Program staff must be available for program times (11:30
• 2:30pm) on all Tuesday Meals & Making dates.
• Comfortable supervising and delegating tasks to assitant teachers and high school or college interns.
• Supports efforts for fundraising for the program site and networking efforts
• Ability to step into the admin side of the program, if needed
• rosters, family and school communications, planning art shows etc.

Experience & Qualifications:

• Bilingual:

  English / Spanish or Haitian French Creole
• Ties to Springfield and surrounding community
• Strong background in art education
• Confidence in teaching small groups and various art making offerings
• Comfortability with a wide range of art materials and demonstrating technique
• Background knowledge on how to care for basic art supplies: (brushes, scissors, palettes)
• Knowledge or experience in child development, first aid, behavior management, daycare, or classroom management is a plus
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Patience and the ability to work with students of different ages and learning abilities
• Flexibility to adapt teaching methods based on individual student needs
• Passion for art and helping students explore art making as a tool for self expression
• Reliable transportation is a must
