Employee must be available on a part-time basis (15-25 hours per week) from mid-May until the schools are closed for summer, then 35-40 hours per week for the summer months through Labor Day. Employee must be willing to work weekends, evenings and holidays. Please do not plan on taking an extended vacation. In some of the parks the swimming pools will close in late August. Assigned Park locations may change throughout the season.
General Description:
This is coordination work at local municipal parks. The employee is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a community park(s). Coordination is exercised over a group of park employees. The employee is responsible for making sure all Assistant Park Managers & Park Aide duties are executed. The employee handles all complaints from the public and prepares all necessary records and reports. The employee also attends weekly staff meetings and assists in keeping the park employees informed of departmental rules and policies. The employee will report directly to a Recreation Supervisor, and inform them immediately of any significant event in their assigned park(s).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Follows all employee rules and regulations. Coordinates the work of seasonal staff. Enforces discipline among employees and patrons. Prepares records and reports in a neat and timely fashion. Establishes and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public. Enforces Park rules and regulations with tact. Wears required uniform. Provides general information and resolves problems and complaints from staff and from individuals utilizing the parks. Patrols the park, and reports safety concerns directly to the Recreation Supervisor, and the Dearborn Police Department. Ensures the cleanliness and safety of the park facilities and equipment. Checks sport and park permits and manages large groups utilizing the facilities. Maintains and reports accurate payroll records for his/her employees.
Qualifications :
Work experience that reflects the ability to effectively coordinate the work of seasonal employees. Ability to speak with, work with, and rationally resolve conflict with the public. Must have a good driving record. Current CPR and First Aid Certification (For Park Only Locations) or obtain the certifications within one month of hire date.
POST-EMPLOYMENT OFFER REQUIREMENTS
: Satisfactory completion of background check (sex offender registry if applicable) and a pre-employment physical and drug screen that tests for illegal drugs as defined by the Federal Drug Free Workplace Act but not those legalized under Michigan law.
