Metro Detroit Area Position Overview Somebody Who Cares Destiny Empowerment Center is seeking positive, dependable, and energetic Youth Mentors to support our Press Pause Choice Program. This program focuses on youth development, decision-making, mentorship, life skills, and engaging activities that help students grow socially and emotionally. Youth Mentors will assist with daily program operations, supervise and engage with youth participants, support activities and events, and help create a safe, structured, and encouraging environment for students. Responsibilities Assist with all program activities and daily operations Supervise, mentor, and positively engage youth participants Help facilitate games, workshops, discussions, and enrichment activities Assist with setup and breakdown of program equipment, materials, and activities Support food distribution and meal/snack service during program sessions Maintain a safe, respectful, and organized environment for youth Assist staff wherever support is needed during program hours Provide assistance during special events, field activities, and community events Be available for occasional after-hours program support if needed Encourage positive behavior, teamwork, and participation among students Qualifications Experience working with youth preferred Strong communication and leadership skills Positive attitude and ability to work in a team environment Dependable, flexible, and professional Ability to engage middle and high school youth in a positive manner Must be able to lift, move, and assist with program equipment and supplies as needed Background check may be required Preferred Skills Experience in mentoring, education, youth programs, recreation, or community outreach Ability to lead or assist with interactive activities and group engagement Comfortable working in active, fast-paced environments Compensation 1099 Independent Contractor Position Hourly compensation based on experience and program funding About the Program The Press Pause Choice Program helps youth build confidence, improve decision-making, and develop positive communication skills through interactive activities, mentorship, media, games, discussions, and real-life learning experiences using the "Stop, Think, Talk It Out" framework.
