The Program Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of high-quality programs and services to youth in alignment with the mission and standards of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA). Under the direct supervision of the Site Supervisor, the Program Coordinator ensures program activities support the goals and objectives established by the Area Club Director, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and Board of Directors. This position plays a vital role in creating a safe, positive, and inclusive environment that promotes academic success, healthy lifestyles, and character and leadership development for all members.KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare Youth for Success Plan, implement, and oversee designated Club programs and activities that support positive Youth Development Outcomes. Oversee daily program activities to ensure alignment with established standards and goals. Encourage member participation in a variety of program areas and provide instruction to help youth develop skills and confidence. Demonstrate leadership by ensuring the safety, engagement, and personal development of all members. Program Development and Implementation Establish and maintain safe, inclusive program environments that support the health and well-being of members. Ensure program areas are clean, well-ventilated, well-lit, and equipment is maintained. Evaluate programs on an ongoing basis to ensure responsiveness to member needs and alignment with gender, cultural, and developmental diversity. Collaborate with the Site Supervisor on supply and equipment needs; ensure purchases comply with approved budgets. Prepare and submit lesson plans with clear objectives according to schedules set by the Site Supervisor. Collect and report accurate data, including attendance, participation, and outcomes, to support program evaluation, compliance, and reporting requirements. Supervision Provide direct supervision of youth participants at all times, ensuring a safe, positive, and engaging environment. Maintain appropriate staff-to-member ratios in compliance with organizational and licensing requirements. Promote positive behavior management, conflict resolution, and inclusion among members. Provide direction and oversight for program volunteers and support staff, offering guidance and feedback to ensure consistency in program delivery and youth supervision. Ensure accurate record keeping for participation, incidents, achievements, and program milestones. Additional Responsibilities May oversee or assist with special programs and events (e.g., Youth of the Year, Awards Programs, or community events). Engage with parents/guardians to address member needs, concerns, or challenges. Support other Club activities or initiatives as assigned by the Site Supervisor.Relationships Internal:
Maintain regular contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), youth members, and supervisors to provide updates, resolve issues, and support team goals.External:
Engage with schools, parents/guardians, community organizations, and other partners as directed by the Site Supervisor to enhance program quality and member support.SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Minimum of four (2) years' experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar youth-serving organization; or a combination of two (1) years of post-secondary education (Associate's degree or higher) and two (1) years of relevant professional experience. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage youth, families, and partners effectively. Demonstrated leadership skills and knowledge of group dynamics. Proven organizational and project management abilities, including staff/volunteer supervision. Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate youth development programs that are engaging, inclusive, and mission-driven. Basic proficiency in Google Workspace, Slack, and database systems preferred. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of program delivery.PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
Ability to actively participate in Club programs, including physical activities with youth. Must be able to lift and carry program supplies and equipment up to 25 pounds. Work is conducted in a dynamic Club environment with frequent noise and activity. Must remain alert and engaged while supervising youth in group settings.
