RESTORATIVE FACILITATOR & YOUTH ADVOCATE

Open until filled The Legal Rights Center (LRC) seeks outstanding candidates for a restorative facilitator/youth advocate position within its Restorative Justice Program. LRC is a community-based nonprofit law firm providing school-based restorative justice services, holistic legal defense representation for juveniles and adults, and education and advocacy regarding problems and impacts of excessive criminalization. Position Responsibilities The Restorative Facilitator will be a critical member of our Restorative Justice Program team, and must be qualified to support all of the work of the program.

This will include:

Facilitating restorative Family Group Conferences for youth referred for school discipline, truancy, juvenile diversion, family engagement support, or other reasons; Facilitating other restorative-based practices, including circle keeping, with our school-based partners, youth and families; Supporting school staff through training and consultation on implementation of restorative practices; Presenting restorative practices trainings to interested community partners; Representing the LRC in community spaces; and Utilizing database systems for data tracking; Other related tasks. Essential Qualifications Experience facilitating restorative justice processes including Family Group Conferences, circles, mediations Strengths-based approach to youth and families, experience working with youth Self-motivated and takes initiative, able to work both in a team and independently Strong organizational skills, including strong facility for multitasking Professional familiarity with school settings or the field of education generally Experience working with multicultural communities Experience working with low-income communities Strong oral and written communication skills Excellent listening skills Willingness to use own vehicle for work related travel to schools, courts, etc. (mileage reimbursed) Physical Requirements Necessary to Perform this

Job:

Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. At times might need to lift and small carry parcels, packages & other items and to navigate through short distances in an office. Salary & Benefits Compensation for this position is in the range of $50,000 to $60,000 annually based upon qualifications and experience. Health and dental insurance and retirement benefits provided.
