Job Description

This position plays a key role in understanding the evolving needs of AMC members and determining the most effective ways to deliver relevant education, training, and resources. The successful candidate will listen to members, identify emerging trends and challenges, and translate those needs into engaging and practical learning opportunities. In this role, you will: Assess the professional development needs of county officials and staff through member engagement, surveys, committees, affiliate organizations, and emerging trends. Develop creative and effective learning solutions that meet member needs and support practical application. Help determine the best methods for delivering education and resources, including conferences, workshops, webinars, district meetings, online learning, and other formats. Identify and coordinate subject matter experts, presenters, and facilitators. Plan and support the educational components of conferences, workshops, district meetings, and other learning events. Coordinate and facilitate district meetings throughout Minnesota. Manage speaker and presenter communication and logistics. Evaluate programs and use member feedback and outcomes to improve future learning opportunities. Build relationships with organizations and partners to expand educational resources and opportunities. Promote educational programs in collaboration with AMC staff. We're looking for someone who understands the unique needs and operations of counties and is organized, curious, strategic, and highly responsive to the needs of our members. The ideal candidate enjoys building relationships, identifying challenges, and turning ideas and information into meaningful learning experiences.
Successful candidates will have:
Experience working in or with county governments. Strong written, verbal, and public speaking skills. An understanding of adult learning principles. Strong organizational and project management skills. The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail. Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills. The ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment. Experience with Microsoft Office, Teams, Zoom, and other learning or meeting technologies. Qualifications Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of two years related experience. Four additional years of related experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree. Two years of experience in the public sector or with a membership association is preferred. Experience in the public sector or with a public sector association is preferred. Valid Minnesota driver's license required. Competitive benefits and positive working environment. Starting salary dependent on qualifications but expected to be between $70,000-$80,000. This position is based in St. Paul, Minnesota with the potential for hybrid work.
