Contract Type Classified Hourly If other, please specify Recruitment Type Open Position Details General Statement The WWAMI Medical Education Program provides education at MSU Bozeman for first and second year medical students in partnership with the University of Washington School of Medicine. The teaching includes several laboratory classes that use anatomical dissection. Duties and Responsibilities Manage the Montana Body Donation ( MBDP ) files and correspondence. Communicate with funeral homes and families regarding potential and actual donations. Pick up and embalm cadavers; prepare cadavers for storage. Assist in preparation of the WWAMI anatomy teaching laboratories. Complete dissections in preparation for WWAMI student labs, as required. Assist in setting up laboratory exams for the WWAMI students, as needed. Maintain the Permanent Anatomical Teaching Collection and lab specimen catalog of partner institutions. Arrange for acquisition of cadavers and cadaver exchanges, and use of the Permanent Anatomical Teaching Collection, with anatomical teaching programs across the state. Arrange, document, and communicate final disposition of donations. Facilitate anatomical teaching demonstrations for interested groups. Perform miscellaneous duties in support of the WWAMI program. Required Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills Bachelors degree in one of the Biological Sciences or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. . Undergraduate coursework in chemistry and biology, including anatomy. Experience making chemical solutions and with general laboratory safety. Must be able to work with hazardous chemicals and biological samples. Experience working with human cadavers. Preferred Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills Demonstrated experience as a student assistant teacher (SA) or teaching assistant (TA) or instructor in human gross anatomy working with cadavers. Demonstrated experience with proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Prior knowledge of Access database software and Adobe Acrobat DC preferred. Demonstrated experience with organizational skills, and the ability to utilize word processing, spreadsheet, and database software. Demonstrated experience embalming cadavers for anatomy instruction. Demonstrated experience with anatomical dissections. The Successful Candidate Will Have effective interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate successfully with faculty, staff and students. Possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Have experience communicating complex scientific information to a broad variety of audiences. Have the ability to work independently on a wide variety of tasks and in different roles. Maintain effective attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and prioritizing competing demands. Possess a commitment to health education. Take initiative and work well independently. Exercise good judgment and self motivation. Maintain strict confidentiality of records and information. Excellent communication skills, and ability to express empathy when talking with bereaved families. Position Special Requirements/Additional Information Able to work occasional evenings and weekends, and be available to answer an on-call cell phone everyday. Must possess a valid driver's license, an acceptable driving record, and meet all State of Montana requirements to operate State/University vehicles. (If successful candidate possesses a valid out-of-state driver's license, must obtain a valid Montana driver's license within 60 days of hire.)
