Position Summary:
The Club Experience Professional is the Club Director's right hand and the heartbeat of the daily Club Experience. This role owns how it feels to walk through our doors: a safe and positive environment, supportive relationships, fun that members talk about at home, real opportunities to lead and belong, and clear, consistently held expectations. The Club Experience Professional leads the daily flow of the Club—arrival, transitions, activity areas, and closing—sets the tone with members and Program Specialists, and steps in as the leader on site when the Club Director is away. A signature responsibility of this role is member recognition: building and running a recognition culture that is loud, visible, frequent, and genuinely exciting, so that every young person is seen, celebrated, and known by name. This person thrives in a dynamic environment and is always ready to jump in and lead any activity any day. They naturally inspire curiosity, engagement, and excitement among Club members while serving as a positive role model for staff. Their enthusiasm and leadership motivate others to take initiative, collaborate, and create impactful experiences for youth every day.
Essential Functions:
A Safe and Positive Environment:
Serve as the Club Director's right hand in daily Club operations and lead the Club in the Club Director's absence Maintain required DHHS staff-to-member ratios, supervision coverage, and safety practices in every space, at all times Conduct daily walkthroughs of program spaces, gym, and outdoor areas to confirm they are clean, safe, well-supplied, and ready for members Respond to incidents, behavior concerns, and emergencies calmly and consistently; complete accurate documentation and communicate promptly with the Club Director and families Model and reinforce BGCM core values—Safety, Accountability, Positivity, Integrity, Professionalism, and Respectfulness—in every interaction Member Recognition (a signature responsibility of this role): Design, launch, and run an exciting, high-energy member recognition system that celebrates effort, character, attendance, growth, leadership, and everyday wins—not just the big trophies Create a system that guarantees every member is recognized by name over the course of the year, with special attention to the quiet, newest, and most vulnerable members Share recognition moments with families, schools, and BGCM Marketing to extend the celebration beyond the
Club Fun, Culture, and Belonging:
Plan and lead the FUN—Club-wide events, theme weeks, tournaments, talent shows, field trips, and traditions that make members choose the Club over anywhere else Build genuine, appropriate relationships with members; know their names, their interests, their people, and what is going on in their world Create a Club culture where every member feels safe, welcomed, and like they belong the very first day they walk in Supporting the
Team and Setting Expectations:
Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and coaching to Program Specialists; formal performance management is retained by the Club Director Set clear, observable expectations for members and Program Specialists and hold them consistently and fairly, every day, with every person Conduct informal observations of staff on the floor and deliver strengths-based, reflective feedback that helps people grow Creating Opportunities and Partnering for
Program Quality:
Partner with Program Leads and Youth Development Professionals to ensure programming is well attended, well supported, and well loved by members Prepare the Club for program delivery—space, supplies, equipment, technology, transitions, and member groupings—so YDPs can focus on program quality Recruit members into programs and opportunities, especially members who would not sign up on their own Work closely with the Program Team, Program Leads, and Youth Development Professionals to develop, coordinate, and maintain a balanced Club program schedule that aligns with member interests, organizational priorities, and program quality standards.
Family Engagement, Data, and Administration:
Build warm, proactive relationships with parents and caregivers; communicate about member successes, not only concerns Lead family engagement moments such as showcases, family nights, and celebration events Ensure accurate daily attendance, scan compliance, and member data in KidTrax/CitySpan and report issues promptly
General Requirements:
Ability to earn and maintain mandatory CPR & First aid certification Maintain a valid driver's license and meet eligibility requirements to drive a BGCM vehicle Must have regular and reliable attendance Must have reliable transportation Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications:
Experience in youth development, out-of-school time, education, recreation, or a related field Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent work experience required Prior experience leading, coaching, or directing a team of staff or volunteers preferred Demonstrated ability to build trusting relationships with young people and to set and hold high expectations with warmth Genuine energy and creativity for planning fun, events, and recognition that young people actually get excited about Experience working with and demonstrating compassion toward vulnerable populations and individuals with diverse backgrounds, both individually and in groups Commitment to the organization's mission, vision, and values, which includes an understanding of and commitment to Youth Development Ability to remain calm, decisive, and solutions-focused in a fast-moving, high-energy environment Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills Strong written, verbal, and virtual communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook), Google Platform, and the ability to learn KidTrax/CitySpan and other BGCM systems Ability to schedule, lead, and manage tasks effectively while staying visible and present on the Club floor Love of learning and curiosity about emerging issues and research in Youth Development Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies (KSACs):
