Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the Program Director, organizes and schedules all events for the Youth Program to provide a safe and positive place for kids. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information. This list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only of the tasks performed by this position and is not all-inclusive.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Current valid New Mexico Driver's License Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation High School Diploma or GED Three (3) years' experience in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experienceESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Plans and implements HHSD Youth Program activities to meet the needs of the community and applicable grants Coordinates program activities with other community service providers to improve service delivery system Develops and implements program plans to meet the needs of the community's youth Ensures confidential maintenance of all participant files Plans all activities for the program component to ensure completion of program objectives Coordinates Youth Services with organized, youth-oriented prevention activities Assists in development of a comprehensive culturally based prevention program for youth pursuant to applicable grants Assists youth in developing self-esteem, develop a sense of responsibility, respect and confidence Maintains professional and technical knowledge by; conducting research; attending seminars; educational workshops; classes and conferences; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; participating in professional societies; and conferring with representatives of contracting agencies and related organizations Performs other duties as required.KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, SKILLS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Knowledge of traditional form of government and pueblo customs and traditions Knowledge of the functions and structure of Ohkay Owingeh Knowledge of the principles, practices and methods of youth program management and programming. Knowledge of administrative and project management Knowledge of records management procedures Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels Ability to work effectively with individuals and demonstrate leadership and teambuilding skills with empathy and enthusiasm. Ability to analyze situations and adopt appropriate course of action. Ability to work independently and meet strict time lines. Ability to make solid decisions and exercise independent judgement. Ability to identify and secure alternative funding of revenue sources. Ability to demonstrate excellence in everything and continually seek improvement in results. Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Ability to prepare accurate, complete, and legible reports, create and present detailed, accurate, objective, and effective speeches and presentations Ability to interpret applicable federal, state, county, and local laws, regulations, requirements, ordinances, and legislation Skill in operating business computers and office machines, including in a Windows environment, specifically Word, Excel, Access, and presentation software (such as PowerPoint) Skill in training staff and parents on youth needs Skill in providing leadership to, supervising, training, and evaluating assigned staff Certified in First AidPHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee occasionally is required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and taste and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds.WORK ENVIROMENT
Work is generally performed in the office or activity setting with a moderate noise level. Evening, weekend and or holiday work will be required. Travel is required for training, meetings, conferences, presentations and other events. The position description identifies the key responsibilities and expectations for performance.
