Disease Intervention Specialist II (HELPS)

Health SALARY $66,529 "In addition to contractual COLA increases, the annual salary of $66,529 will increase by $400 on the anniversary date for three years."

DESCRIPTION
An incumbent in this class assists with overseeing Disease Intervention Services. This work includes assigning and creating case investigations, reporting disease information, working with medical providers to accurately stage diseases, and provide guidance on treatment modalities according to NYSDOH and CDC guidelines. Work is performed under the supervision of the Epidemiologist and Disease Intervention Specialist III. Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EITHER:
A.Possession of a license issued by the State of New York to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse and one (1) year of experience working in a public contact position which included interviewing, instruction, investigation and/or counseling; OR, B.Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Health, Public Health, Social Work, Human Services, or closely related field and two (2) years of experience working in a public contact position which included interviewing, instruction, investigation and/or counseling; OR, C.Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's degree Health, Public Health, Social Work, Human Services, or closely related field and six (6) years of experience working in a public contact position which included interviewing, instruction, investigation and/or counseling.
SPECIAL REQUIRMENT

The HELP Program is a temporary program designed to help local government employers address current staffing issues. Traditionally, the titles filled under the HELP Program required job candidates to compete in a competitive exam to be considered for employment. For the duration of the program, this title will be classified as non-competitive and categorized as a "HELP Program" position. At the close of the program, this position will revert to competitive class status. Employees occupying positions filled through the HELP Program will be granted competitive class status without the need to participate in a competitive exam.
