Farnham Family Services is seeking a Student Assistance Counselor to provide evidence-based prevention education, counseling, and support to students and youth in school and community-based settings throughout Oswego County. Farnham Family Services is a local nonprofit organization focused on substance use treatment, prevention, recovery support, and community health. In this role, you will work directly with students, school staff, community organizations, and families to identify needs, provide prevention services, deliver evidence-based programming, and connect youth with appropriate resources and supports. Pay:
$22.96-$29.01 per hour, depending on experience Primary location: Mexico, NY Work includes travel to school and community-based sites throughout Oswego County Occasional travel to other Farnham office locations may be required Benefits eligible What You'll Do Work with school and agency staff to incorporate evidence-based programs (EBPs) into classrooms and community programs. Build relationships with school and agency staff to identify and receive referrals for students and youth who may benefit from prevention services. Assess referrals and determine appropriate individual, group, or other prevention services. Meet individually with students and youth appropriate for prevention counseling services. Facilitate groups for students and youth with similar needs, including psychoeducational and skill-building activities. Provide prevention education and information to students, school staff, and community partners. Help school and agency staff understand relevant confidentiality, mandated reporting, crisis, and referral procedures. Work at different school and community-based locations based on program schedules, contracted services, and community needs. Participate in training related to high-risk youth, substance use prevention, and evidence-based programming. Keep school or agency staff and supervisors informed when crisis situations or other significant concerns arise and make outside referrals when appropriate. Complete required OASAS and agency documentation accurately and on time. Complete required program statistics and data entry using

Keep supervisors informed of concerns involving schools, community organizations, administration, staff, parents, facilities, or program operations. Attend agency and Prevention Department meetings as required. Support Farnham's Prevention social media presence, including developing and posting content on platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. Perform responsibilities in alignment with applicable value-based health and value-based payment expectations. Requirements Valid driver's license. Ability to travel to school and community-based sites throughout Oswego County. Ability to work effectively with students, youth, school personnel, families, community organizations, and other stakeholders. Strong communication, organization, documentation, and follow-through skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating with Farnham staff and community partners. Education and Experience Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Counseling, Human Services, or a related behavioral or social science field. Related experience will be considered. CASAC, CPS, CPP, or experience working in a substance use services setting. Related experience will be considered.
