Job Summary The Program Manager, Member Engagement implements our robust fitness programming which includes adult fitness classes, personal training, martial arts, youth programs and some special events. This individual ensures successful planning, implementation, and follow-up for all fitness and member programs. This position sits on the Member Engagement team, which ensures a high quality of engagement and acts as a central hub for all current members, prospects and program participants. This team member will also lead tours, enroll program participants, orient new members, handle membership and program fees, answer calls and emails, and enter information into databases. The ideal candidate is responsible, communicative, has strong attention to detail, and loves working with people. Flexible full time (40 hour) position, Sunday - Thursday with hours ranging between 8 AM and 6 PM, and flexibility to work occasional evening programs.
Key Responsibilities and Expectations:
- Foster a welcoming climate and seamless experience for all patrons, visitors, staff, and the larger community.
- Implement new and innovative fitness programs that promote membership development and retention. Includes advance scheduling, planning, set up and engagement with patrons before, during and after each program.
- Organize programs day-of, including welcome and registration, room/equipment set up, troubleshooting, and guidance to instructors to ensure program success.
- Liaise with facilities to coordinate daily schedule of room setups, check and prepare rooms, book class locations, and gather resources and equipment.
- Support and perform responsibilities of the Member Engagement department and its daily operations, including reception/guest check in, phone and email communications, tours, registration/payment, event support, rentals and more.
- Assist the Senior Manager, Member Engagement with data collection and analysis that backs major projects, e.g. budget, board reports, grant applications
- Provide extensive patron support at the customer service desk and the reception desk. Facilitate the flow of information between departments and community members.
- Facilitate registrations for all JCC youth, family and adult programs. Provide day-of support to run adult social programs.
- Communicate regularly with community members through weekly email and website updates, monthly calendar distribution and one-on-one outreach, ensuring strong follow-up with patrons. Communicate internally with other departments to collaborate in program planning.
- Collaborate with program and operations departments on specific projects related to member engagement, e.g. marketing upcoming programs, sourcing and receiving grant funding, and ensuring a strong budget.
- Utilize various systems, including customer relationship management software, payroll and room reservation systems. Enter data and maintain accurate records.
- Other duties as assigned by the Senior Manager, Member Engagement. Skills, Education and Experience
- College degree preferred
- 3 years experience in a customer service, programming, and/or nonprofit operations
- Prior experience implementing programs (fitness is preferred)
- Prior experience working with membership databases
- Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication and listening skills
- Strong work ethic that includes punctuality, organization, and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain a friendly, positive and collaborative attitude Physical Requirements The physical demands must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job including movement within an office environment.
The role requires the ability to write by hand and use a keyboard to perform general office functions. Also requires the ability to communicate by speech and hearing continuously. Visual acuity is needed for detailed work, and computer use. The ability to sit for extended periods of time is also a requirement. Ability to lift up to 20lbs.
