Job Description:
This twelve-month, 21 hour per week position reporting to the Assistant Dean of ESL develops and manages the English Language Institute (ELI)'s non-credit TESOL (Teaching English to Adult Speakers of Other Languages) Certificate Program and provides leadership in planning and delivering professional development for ELI faculty. The incumbent plans, develops, implements and supervises the TESOL program curriculum, including program evaluation and selection of materials. The incumbent also establishes and oversees ESL class observations and mentored teaching practicum for TESOL trainees. The Program Specialist recruits, hires, and supervises program trainers in collaboration with the Assistant Dean of ESL. The incumbent leads marketing and recruitment efforts to promote the TESOL program and support enrollment goals and oversees the TESOL application, admissions and registration processes. The Program Specialist provides leadership in the design and delivery of professional development for ELI faculty to support and maintain a high-quality instruction across ELI programming. As a member of the ELI leadership team, the incumbent collaborates in the development and implementation of strategic professional development initiatives for faculty. The Program Specialist may also be assigned responsibility for coordinating one or more designated ESL programs or initiatives. In addition, the incumbent compiles, analyzes, maintains and reports relevant program data to support program evaluation, planning, assessment and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree and two years of experience in the field of education, educational administration, recruitment and/or training, or in the analysis of program operations, marketing or customer services. Experience in faculty development and knowledge of current trends in TESOL pedagogy required. Proven administrative skills and instructional technology & MS Office skills required. All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and evidence of equity-minded practice.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
It is preferred that the successful candidate have a Master's in TESOL or related degree, five years of adult/college ESL/EFL in person and online teaching experience, and three years of experience in TESOL administration/supervision. Spanish language proficiency preferred.
Additional Information:
WORK SCHEDULE
This is a 3-day per week position, but hours may vary depending on program needs: Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays. Evening coverage could be required to ensure adequate staffing at the
ELI. SALARY & BENEFITS
The starting salary is $44,459. Additional compensation with seniority steps maximize at a salary of $55,080. Benefits include comprehensive health coverage, a choice of defined benefit and/or defined contribution pension plan, generous leave benefits, and access to tax sheltered annuities and a deferred compensation plan.
