This is a hands-on Program Director position with the opportunity to take on increasing leadership and potentially advance into the Executive Director role as the organization grows. Our Core Values StewardshipDignityCompassion What You'll Do Development & Fundraising:

Build relationships with donors, churches, businesses, foundations, and community partners. Identify funding opportunities, write and manage grants, steward donors, and help develop sustainable revenue for the organization.

Volunteer & Team Leadership:

Recruit, onboard, train, support, and appreciate volunteers. Help interview and support staff and interns, coordinate volunteer groups, and create clear systems, policies, and training.

Programs & Client Support:

Oversee client intake and ongoing support, review complicated cases, coordinate with community providers, maintain accurate records, and ensure services remain compassionate, confidential, and trauma-informed.

Pet & Kennel Operations:

Oversee kennel scheduling and daily needs, pet intake, transportation, veterinary appointments, vaccinations, medications, food, supplies, playdates, and reunification. Step in when unexpected staffing or pet-care needs arise.

Administration & Communication:

Help manage the behind-the-scenes work that keeps Paw in Hand running, data, calendars, board support, donor communication, website updates, newsletters, and social media. Build for the

This Role:

You take initiative and do not need someone to give you every next step. You are extremely organized and dependable. You enjoy building relationships and are comfortable asking people to invest in a mission. You can think big-picture while still handling practical day-to-day needs. You communicate with compassion and accountability. You are comfortable working with dogs, cats, and people experiencing crisis. You understand that loving a nonprofit mission also means paying attention to budgets, deadlines, systems, and sustainability. You can support and represent Paw in Hand's Christian mission and Statement of Faith.

Qualifications:

Experience in nonprofit work, fundraising, social services, volunteer management, operations, ministry, business, or a related field preferred. Social work or human-services background preferred, but not required. Fundraising, grant-writing, nonprofit leadership, domestic violence, or animal-welfare experience is a plus. Strong communication, organization, and technology skills. Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally as needed. We care less about having the perfect degree and more about whether you can lead, learn, problem-solve, build relationships, and get things done. Growth & Advancement A major responsibility of this role is helping Paw in Hand build sustainable funding for programs, staff, and organizational growth, including helping develop the funding needed to sustain and expand this position. As the organization grows, opportunities may include increased hours, increased compensation, expanded leadership responsibilities, staff supervision, and consideration for advancement to Executive Director . Compensation growth will be based on performance, sustainable organizational revenue, increased responsibilities, available funding, and Board approval. Compensation is not commission-based. We are looking for someone who can pray about the future and then open the spreadsheet. Someone who can love our volunteers and still hold people accountable.
