OVERVIEW
Required to coordinate all general department procedures in an efficient, organized, and professional manner. At times may be required to lead a classroom or assist for direction and overall supervision of an assigned group of children, as well as to represent the entire department as a positive leader. Works with team teachers to plan, discuss and implement daily plans in accordance with the current curriculum, incorporating the Ohio Department of Education Standards and other State Agencies.

Learning Center Director Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
- The Program Coordinator works under the guidance of the Learning Center Director. The Program Coordinator also works with the teaching teams to prepare and assure implementation of the daily plans in accordance with the Ohio Child Care Licensing and Step Up to Quality Regulations, the center's current curriculum and Ohio Department of Education Standards.
- Ensure the health and safety of the group at all times.
- Work with teaching team to collect appropriate anecdotal notes and assess the progress of each child in the group.
- Research current trends in child development/education and put into practice in the classroom as appropriate within curriculum.
- Work in cooperation with teaching team members to assure the individual needs of each child is met as the situation demands.
1. Meets the physical and emotional needs of each child. 2. Satisfies the developmental needs of each child through child/adult interactions and planned activities. 3. Ensure that the classroom is prepared before children arrive, cleaned at end of each shift and staff give undivided attention, watching carefully for safety hazards throughout the day. 4. Greets each child and parents daily.
- Assist in arranging the learning environment in a manner that promotes safety and learning in a cheerful environment
- Assist teachers in conducting parent conferences on each child's development.
- Assure all required classroom documentation and record keeping is completed in a timely manner (i.e. Daily Lesson Plans; COR and other required assessments and Parent/Teacher conference forms; daily attendance and ratio sheets; meal counts and food/supply orders, etc.…)
- Attend general staff meetings, teacher planning meetings, and assist in setting the goals for the Department.
- Respond efficiently and appropriately to unexpected staff shortages.
- Assign all department staff to necessary schedules to maintain required ratios in all environments.
- Monitor and evaluate all department staff leave of absence forms and submit recommendations to the Learning Center Director.
- Provide assistance through feedback or anecdotes of work performance of all staff in your area to the Learning Center Director upon request.
- Work in ratio daily, where and when needed.
- Know schedule, hours, and location may vary for department needs.
- Required to drive JRC Bus (CDL not required) - transporting children for fieldtrips.
REQUIREMENTS
- An Associate Degree and/or work related experience in childcare.
- Must attend continuing training classes designed to broaden professionalism, education and skill involving childcare and child development as required by Federal and State regulations and administration.
- The Program Coordinator must possess personal attributes needed to develop trusting relationships with children and adults.
- Professional in appearance, attitude, and ability.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
- Ability to exercise discretion and good judgement and maintain confidentiality.
- Treat children, parents, and staff members with dignity and respect.
- Demonstrate sound work ethics and recognizes potentially unethical practices.
- Develop a sense of teamwork with co-workers in all activities, including housekeeping, diapering/toilet training and meal service as well as lesson preparation and record keeping.
- Possesses cultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Knowledge and experience working with young children and the basics of child development.
- Skills in patience and remaining calm under pressure. Ability to move and react quickly to handle emergencies effectively.
- Skills in time management and organization.
- Skills in parent communication.
- Acquire knowledge of the current curriculum and implement the curriculum practices in the classroom.
- May be required to lift, carry and manage equipment and supplies.
- May spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers.
- May be involved with a number of projects at one time or interrupted frequently.
May find the work environment to be noisy and will need excellent organizational and time and stress management skills toc complete the required tasks.
