Job Description
Overview The Family Advocacy and Prevention Manager facilitates the successful operation and strategic functioning of the Children's Advocacy Center of Scioto County, the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), the Scioto County Tobacco Prevention Coalition, and other regional advocacy, wellness, and prevention programs. The core mission of this role is to maximize interagency effectiveness among partners while maintaining a trauma-informed, safe environment and service matrix for victims and their families, alongside driving community-wide health, wellness, and prevention initiatives. Essential Job Functions 1.
Coordination, Coalition, & Interagency Leadership Coordinated Response :
Ensure an immediate, coordinated response to child abuse cases involving allegations of severe physical abuse, sexual assault, and child fatalities referred to theCAC. MDT
Facilitation :
Lead and facilitate monthly MDT case reviews, ensuring all investigative partners (law enforcement, child protective services, prosecutors, and medical professionals) maintain a collaborative, multi-disciplinary perspective.Coalition Leadership :
Convene, facilitate, and direct the Scioto County Tobacco Prevention Coalition and related public health initiatives, driving strategic planning, community engagement, and policy advocacy.Communication & Follow-Up :
Track and communicate all actionable follow-up items from CAC case reviews to relevant MDT members, and coordinate action items for coalition members to ensure timely program execution.Systems Advocacy & Partnerships :
Facilitate quarterly CAC systems meetings and public health stakeholder meetings to address systemic challenges, review regional statistics, and manage Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) and confidentiality agreements. 2.Clinical Oversight, Education, & Direct Services Direct Service Delivery :
Provide backup direct services as needed, including conducting Forensic Interviews, case coordination, and family support.Community Education & Prevention :
Design, coordinate, and deliver evidence-based prevention curricula, tobacco cessation outreach, and youth-focused wellness campaigns throughout the community and school systems.Evidence-Based Practice :
Ensure all direct service, advocacy, and public health activities strictly align with current research, Ohio Department of Health (ODH) frameworks, and evidence-based practice guidelines.Accreditation & Quality Standards :
Maintain all qualifications for initial and ongoing training, peer review, and direct service models as outlined by the National Children's Alliance (NCA) Accreditation guidelines and public health grant deliverables. 3.Program Administration, Grants, & Operations Fiscal & Grant Management :
Write re-application grant narratives, compile detailed program reports for funding sources, monitor budgets, and proactively identify additional funding opportunities.Data Integrity & Reporting :
Oversee the accurate collection, completion, and electronic tracking of all statistical case data and public health grant deliverables, maintaining documentation on internal platforms (such as SharePoint).Facility & Environmental Management :
Maintain a secure, comfortable, and private therapeutic setting for children and families. Oversee the physical space, and equipment inventory to ensure safety and strict confidentiality.Personnel Supervision :
Supervise victim advocacy, prevention education, and assigned staff to ensure high-quality care, robust service coordination, and adherence to agency/departmental policies.Public Relations & Networking :
Represent both the CAC and tobacco/wellness coalitions in community forums, networking with local, state, and national advocacy and public health organizations to integrate evolving standards of care and prevention.Operational Flexibility:
Perform other professional duties, specialized projects, or emergency response tasks as assigned to support the evolving needs of the Children's Advocacy Center and community prevention programs.Key Qualifications & Competencies Collaborative Leadership:
A proven track record of uniting diverse professional groups (including law enforcement, medical professionals, and public health coalitions) under a shared, collaborative mission.Clinical & Trauma-Informed Literacy:
In-depth understanding of child abuse dynamics, trauma-informed care principles, and the psychological and developmental impacts of trauma on children and families.Program Design & Evaluation:
Demonstrated ability to plan, launch, coordinate, and evaluate the effectiveness of public health, advocacy, or human service programs.Strategic Communication & Facilitation:
Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, with active experience in public speaking, community outreach, and leading multi-disciplinary stakeholder meetings.Administrative & Fiscal Acumen:
Proficiency in federal and state grant management (including writing narrative reports and tracking deliverables), budget oversight, and supportive, growth-oriented personnel supervision.Systems & Technical Proficiency:
High digital literacy—including strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and collaborative platforms (such as SharePoint)—with the aptitude to quickly master specialized case-tracking and reporting databases.Resilience & Crisis Management:
The emotional intelligence and professional boundaries necessary to navigate high-stress crisis environments and sensitive subject matter calmly, ethically, and confidentially. Minimum Qualifications Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:Preferred:
Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a closely related field, plus one (1) year of experience in a direct public-contact human services role.Alternative Track A:
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Criminal Justice, or a related field, plus three (3) years of experience in a direct public-contact human services role.Alternative Track B:
Associate's Degree or High School Diploma/GED, supported by a minimum of five (5) years of documented, relevant human services experience that includes proven managerial and supervisory duties. Additional Requirements- Possession of a valid Driver's License, active automobile insurance, and reliable transportation.
