Job Description

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Student Leadership Program Coordinator to support the development and implementation of our high school leadership program. We are looking for someone with strong technical skills that are proficient in Canva, Google Suite and JotForm. This position will be responsible for content creation and administrative tasks in the office as well as independent travel to high schools in order to present and recruit students to join the Student Leadership Program. Pacifica received grant funding from
Oregon State University Extensions:
Outdoor School to develop and implement a Student Leadership Program at Pacifica's Outdoor School. Pacifica's Student Leadership Program gets high school students outside and mentoring fifth and sixth graders at Outdoor School (PODS). We designed the program to cultivate leadership skills, ecological knowledge, and social intelligence. Through learning to support or lead nature explorations, hikes, and games, students develop skills in communication, time management, problem-solving, and teamwork, and enhance self-awareness and social skills. Pacifica is especially excited about the impact this program has on high school students' confidence, sense of purpose, and connection to community.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment and Outreach:
Attend high schools to recruit students for the leadership program, deliver curriculum presentations, and establish connections with students and school staff.
Relationship Building :
In coordination with the Education Coordinator, develop relationships with teachers and community members to encourage ongoing participation.
Training and Management:
Work with a fellow Coordinator to train and oversee Student Leader Training programs.
Program Coordination and Creation:
Schedule and manage activities related to high school recruitment and the facilitation of outdoor school events. Develop curriculum and execute creative outreach campaigns.
Data Management:
Collect, input, and manage student information to support recruitment efforts, program preparation, and ensuring students receive elective credit. Support program evaluation with data collection and data entry.
Communication:
Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and schools to ensure a smooth program experience.
Digital and Social Media Management:
Handle Facebook and Instagram accounts for scheduling posts. Utilize Canva to create flyers and other educational material.
Documentation:
Be proficient in Google Suite, WordPress, andJotForm for administrative tasks. Edit and proofread program materials to ensure accuracy and clarity.
Organization :
Maintain excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize, coordinate and simultaneously maintain multiple projects with high level of quality, accuracy, and productivity to accomplish tasks and goals.
Requirements:
Have reliable transportation to travel to schools in Jackson and Josephine County. Mileage will be reimbursed. Attend monthly zoom meetings hosted by the University of Oregon Outdoor School. Travel may be required for training in the state at other Outdoor Schools. Experience in youth education and/or program coordination is a plus. Videography skills are a plus. Ability to pass a background check. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision, take initiative, and make independent decisions. Ability to work effectively and creatively with others to accomplish goals, suggest improvements, and identify and resolve problems. Proficiency in data collection, entry, and management. Strong technical skills for data management and content creation. Strong skills in Canva, Google Suite, WordPress, and JotForms. Experience with social media management, including scheduling. Attention to detail in editing and proofreading. Help maintain an environment that fosters trust, open communication, and teamwork. Willing and able to work in a shared, open space office setting. Be approachable, flexible, and adaptable to change.
Preferred Qualifications:
First aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain. Understanding of accessibility, diversity, equity, and inclusion (ADEI) principles. Passion for the outdoors and outdoor education. Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds. Experience in creating and implementing assessments and evaluations.
Work Schedule:
Hybrid office/remote for 20hrs/week during peak season. Flexible work arrangement up to 20 hrs/week during June-August and December-February. Requirement to attend Outdoor Schools in the Spring and Fall. Ability to travel to high schools in Josephine and Jackson County as needed for recruitment.
