POSITION
COMMUNITYOUTREACH & INTERVENTION SPECIALIST
(HACP) CV is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Community Outreach & Intervention Specialist to join our team! The Community Outreach & Intervention Specialist provides crisis counseling and intervention services following incidents of community and gun violence affecting individuals, families, and the broader community. This role focuses on serving residents within the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh (HACP), with responsibility for coordinating timely intervention and support services. Services may be provided in homes, schools, community locations, CV offices, or via phone. The position supports individuals and families in processing trauma, complicated loss, grief responses, and preparation for court or criminal justice proceedings. A key focus includes facilitating communication and connection among impacted family and community systems to promote healing and stability.Responsibilities:
Responds to referrals from HACP and provides on-site intervention. Provides an assessment of needs unique to each response. Visits HACP sites on a regular basis for disseminating program information to residents and staff. Provides training and education and outreach programs on intimate partner violence, sexual assault, the impact of trauma as well as prevention and safety planning to Housing Authority audiences (residents and staff). Utilizes conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills to obtain necessary information from participants to ensure effective referrals and resources. Assists in completing intakes for mediation and conflict resolution services. Assist in facilitating constructive dialogues/mediations with individuals, families and community groups. Ensures the confidentiality of all client communications. Participates as an active member in staff meetings, trainings and in-services. Participates as a member of community crisis teams as needed Provides timely and accurate data regarding client demographics, service plans, and staff efforts utilizing CV established data collection and reporting systems Researches, networks with, and develops community resources including but not limited to drug and alcohol, community mental health, school truancy, family counseling and job readiness programs.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in social work, human services, criminal justice, or related field Experience in victim services, criminal court systems, or community crisis response preferred Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, mediation, and conflict resolution Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups Demonstrated commitment to CV's mission and ability to work in a culturally diverse environment with sensitivity and professionalism Reliable personal transportation required Must be able to obtain Act 33, Act 34, and FBI clearances CV offers the following benefit package for full time staff: Employee Health, Dental and Vision Benefits Paid Time Off Benefits 15 Paid Holidays Short Term Disability and Life Insurance Retirement Plan Employee Assistance Program Opportunity for employee reimbursements for mileage, parking and cell phone usage (position dependent) Opportunity to apply for PSLF Program (Paid Student Loan Forgiveness Program) for your work with a non-profit dependent) CV is an equal employment opportunity employer.
