Senior Observation Specialist
  • National School Lunch Program Position Overview Join CN Resource as a Senior Observation Specialist, supporting state agency oversight of the USDA National School Lunch Program.
You'll conduct on-site monitoring visits and administrative reviews of child nutrition program sites, ensuring compliance with USDA regulations and helping sponsors strengthen their program operations.

Location:
Remote; must be willing to travel 1-2 weeks per month, including out of state
Availability:
Monday-Friday; some travel days may extend into weekends
Pay:
$25.00

Travel:
If traveling in-state beyond 150 miles, a rental car will be provided Principal Duties and Responsibilities Conduct on-site observational reviews of general meal service times, food safety practices, civil rights compliance, and program records Complete all required questionnaires, forms, and reports Provide technical assistance to sponsors on program requirements and corrective action Collaborate with team members to ensure thorough, consistent reviews Maintain current knowledge of federal and state regulations and industry best practices Submit completed reviews by established deadlines Preferred Knowledge Background in nutrition, business, accounting, or a related field Familiarity with federal and state regulations for NSLP, School Breakfast, CACFP, and SFSP Skills Required Strong interpersonal and communication skills Technology proficiency, including Microsoft 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams) Strong organizational skills; able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously Additional Requirements Fingerprint clearance (as applicable) Current, valid driver's license Personal laptop or tablet with reliable internet
