Job Description

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
Lorain County Safe Harbor is a non-profit domestic violence, human service, and social change agency, providing emergency confidential shelter and a wide variety of community-based intervention, education, support, and prevention services throughout Lorain County.
Title:
Intervention Coordinator This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position that involves education, facilitation, intervention, and outreach in the community. This position includes varied hours of work, including weekend, evening, and holiday hours. This position reports directly to the Manager of Community Education, Prevention & Outreach.
Key Responsibilities:
Community based work: Assist in the planning and coordination of tabling events and other outreach efforts Coordinate and implement large, wide-spread community awareness activities or events Coordinate Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) activities Begin to initiate and cultivate relationships with local community correctional facilities, police departments and community partners on training or providing our services Batterers Intervention Program work: Maintain a strong working relationship with Batterers Intervention Program referral sources, partners and stakeholders, serving as a liaison and completing intakes for the program Oversee the scheduling and implementation including location and supplies for the program as well as record keeping for the program
Group Facilitation:
Provide direct service via group co-facilitation to perpetrators of domestic violence using program curriculum, which is based on the
Duluth Model:
Creating a Process of Change for Men Who Batter. Arrive 15 minutes prior to group meeting time Display group rules Arrange seating in a circle or semi-circle Have materials available or group activities (large paper pads, easel, markers, handouts, etc.) Respect the confidentiality of group members and their partners Begin and close the meetings punctually and with the established group routines Model mutually respectful, co-facilitator, mixed-gendered relationships based on equality Complete and maintain attendance records and other records or reports as needed Maintain organized and thorough client files for program participants Refer group members to other community resources as appropriate
Maintain Collaborative Internal Relationships:
Attend regularly scheduled supervision meetings Debrief with co-facilitator after each group session Alert supervisor to any safety concerns and perform any necessary safety-planning steps Consistently model a relationship with co-facilitator that demonstrates equality in partnerships, and err on the side of relationship equality whenever possible Attend Lorain County Safe Harbor staff meetings or other meetings and community events as assigned by supervisor
Maintain Collaborative External Relationships:
Provide court testimony as needed regarding Program participants' attendance and behavior in group Provide written reports as needed to referring agencies Provide education to the community regarding the philosophy behind the Batterers Intervention Program and the root causes of domestic violence as needed Maintain a respectful and cooperative relationship with the partner agency hosting the Batterers Intervention Program group. Serve as an agency liaison to this community partner Communicate respectfully with partners of program participants
Minimum Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree and experience working with survivors of violence preferred, with a variety of experience and skills being able to serve as equivalents Must have flexibility of schedule to facilitate evening groups Valid Ohio driver's license and reliable, insured transportation Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must Excellent conflict management skills and an assertive communication style are necessary A commitment to equality in relationships Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds Basic computer skills including simple database usage, Microsoft Word programs, and internet research abilities An appreciation for the importance of maintaining strict confidentiality as well as strict professional boundaries An understanding of and commitment to social change, with the ability to inspire and advocate for said change. $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
