Job Description

Job Summary:

The MHAT Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Program Manager in development and implementation of the mental health awareness training plan, including selection of evidence-based curricula and identification of target trainees (school staff, first responders, veterans, families and community leaders. Working with the MHAT Coordinators (Brazoria and Matagorda) on work planning, task assignment, performance management and professional development. Develop collaborative partnerships with relevant community agencies and programs to assist with responding to mental health issues and improve coordination of services to the community. Develop and implement evidence-based social marketing and awareness campaigns to reduce stigma and raise awareness of the need for culturally competent and developmentally appropriate services. Implement in-person evidence-based mental health awareness training. Identify the intended individuals to receive mental health awareness training. Identify resources and support. Develop written and electronic training materials. Establish referral mechanisms that will increase the ability for referral and link individuals to mental health resources and services. Develop and implement a mental health awareness training plan that includes:

◦ Curriculum and/or evidence-based practices to be used are culturally and developmentally appropriate.

◦ The processes to be used to refer and link individuals to resources and services.

◦ Identification of de-escalation strategies that can be used by individuals trained to de- escalate crisis situations safely and appropriately.

◦ Processes to be used to track referrals.

◦ Identification of community outreach and engagement strategies to ensure that participation results in broad and diverse representation of the community served. Develop a resource base with descriptive narrative of mental health service agencies and other appropriate resources that can be utilized by those trained. Responsible for data collection and reporting of required data. Build capacity to sustain community-based mental health strategies to support the provision of mental health services. Qualifications Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in a health-related field. Minimum 2 years of experience in a health-related field. Experience with public speaking and providing training. Ability to work effectively with both large and small groups.

Job Type:
Full-time Pay:

$55,000.00 per year
