Gmail Full Job Description HERStory:
My Sisters Keeper is a Chicago-based nonprofit organization on a mission to improve the educational and life outcomes of young women of color ages 16-24. Through a 12-week in-school writing, literacy, and storytelling residency, HERStory builds identity, mental wellness, sisterhood, and career readiness — one circle at a time. Founded in 2010 by Jessica Disu (FM Supreme), HERStory has reached more than 3,000 young women across Chicago and the nation. After a full organizational rebuild, HERStory relaunches in Fall 2026 with school partnerships and a mission-driven team ready to grow. Programming is 100% free to participants — supported entirely by generous donors and grant funding. HERStory is hiring a part-time Program Coordinator to support the launch and delivery of the Fall 2026 program cohort and beyond. This is a ground-floor opportunity to join a relaunching organization with 15 years of proven impact and be part of building something that matters. The Program Coordinator is the operational engine behind HERStory's program delivery. You will work closely with Founder & Executive Director to ensure every session runs smoothly, every participant is tracked and supported, and every school liaison feels fully partnered. You are detail-oriented, people-centered, and mission-driven. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, communicates well, thrives in a dynamic environment, and cares deeply about young women of color. Prior experience in youth development, education, or nonprofit programming is a plus — but a genuine commitment to the mission is non-negotiable. Key Responsibilities Program & Logistics Coordinate scheduling, logistics, and session preparation for all program cohorts Prepare session spaces, materials, and participant supplies before each session Manage the participant tracker — attendance, assessments, completion status, and outcomes data Distribute and collect intake surveys, midpoint check-ins, and completion assessments Support the logistics of the annual national trip and special program events School & Partner Communications Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact for school liaisons at partner campuses Communicate scheduling updates, changes, and reminders to school partners in a timely manner Support participant recruitment by coordinating with school staff to identify eligible young women Distribute consent forms, photo releases, and any other required school documentation Administrative & Organizational Support Maintain organized digital files across HERStory's Google Drive structure Support grant reporting by gathering outcome data, attendance records, and participant testimonials Draft routine communications including reminder emails, follow-ups, and thank-you notes Assist with volunteer coordination and community event logistics (block clean-up, Peace Bash) Support the Executive Director with special projects and organizational priorities as needed
Qualifications Required:
Genuine commitment to HERStory's mission and the wellbeing of young women of color Strong organizational skills — you manage details without dropping the ball Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Gmail) Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule in a hybrid environment Reliable transportation to Chicago program sites Availability to work some Monday through Thursday sessions during program weeks
Preferred:
1-3 years of experience in youth development, nonprofit programming, education, or a related field Experience working with young women of color in a school or community setting Familiarity with trauma-informed practices Experience with data tracking, grant reporting, or program evaluation What We Offer A ground-floor opportunity to join a relaunching organization with 15 years of proven impact Our Values HERStory believes every person was born with a purpose. We help young women discover it and give them the tools and courage to pursue it. We show up for each other. We hold space without judgment. We speak from our own experience. What is shared in the circle stays in the circle. These are not just program values — they are organizational values. Everyone on the HERStory team lives them. Meaningful work — every task you do supports a young woman's path to finding her voice A small, mission-aligned team with direct access to the organization's founder Flexible hybrid schedule that respects your time and life outside of work Professional development and growth opportunities as HERStory scales The chance to be part of something that is building toward national reach
Pay:
$22.00 - $24.00 per hour
