Full Job Description Overview:
The Education Department at Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum is looking for enthusiastic individuals excited about WWII and STEM that also enjoy working with elementary-middle school aged children. Applicants must be comfortable leading groups, speaking publicly, and communicating social studies, science, and math. Hours are flexible. This is a contracted position with hourly pay. This is not a state position or employment with PPDA . You must be available to work between the hours of 9am-1pm on weekdays. This position requires walking over 1.5 miles and climbing ladders, both at a quick pace. Experience with informal or formal science or social studies related education is desired. Position Summary The 1099 Contract Instructor supports the execution of high-quality educational programs for both students and teachers. Instructors are responsible for assistance of bus loading, unloading, school lunch logistics, program set-up and breakdown as well as content delivery. Instructors must adhere to all radio and emergency protocol and submit to background checks. Key Responsibilities 1. Program Delivery Support lesson plans designed by staff and align instructional support with program objectives Adapt to various student needs and learning styles to enhance the educational experience Deliver program content clearly, efficiently, and engage students for the duration of programming Follow program outlines and guidelines 2. Program Logistics Aid in greeting buses Assist with lunches or group belongings when applicable Set up and breakdown activities where applicable 3. Professional Conduct Represent the Education Department with professionalism and integrity during all interactions with students, staff, and visitors. Uphold the Education Department's values and commitment to excellence in education.
Qualifications Experience :
experience in formal or informal education preferred
Education :
High school diploma or equivalent required with background knowledge of social studies or STEM preferred Skills Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Patience and adaptability when working with students of varying skill levels.
