SUPERVISORY WORK
None HOURS:
Monday-Thursday, 40 hours per week, with additional after‑hours work performed as needed.
WAGE:
$25.00 per hour SUMMARY Under the general supervision of the Health Informatics Program Manager, this position is responsible for supporting and managing key components of the department's Health Informatics initiatives and related public health programs.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyze data for all Public Health programs as needed. Produce statistical reports using program‑generated data. Develop public‑facing reports and dashboards to communicate Public Health data. Support departmental data needs and assist with identifying trends for reporting and decision‑making. Serve as a liaison to the Amarillo Area Public Health Board and the Amarillo Hospital District Indigent Care and Funding Priorities Committee. Support the department's electronic medical record (EMR) systems and associated workflows. Assist with staff training on departmental computer programs. Serve as the designated backup for the Local Responsible Party. Coordinate staff onboarding and manage Learning Management System (Lexipol) activities. Conduct program evaluations and quality assurance reviews. Assist with departmental record retention processes. Assist in maintaining inventory records and submitting required documentation for audits across grant‑funded and non‑grant programs, including inventory audits for the City of Amarillo, Amarillo Public Health, and DSHS State (GC 11). Participate in training sessions, exercises, and drills, including preparation of pre‑ and post‑exercise documentation. Participate in public health preparedness and emergency response activities. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
This position requires a bachelor's degree in health informatics, Public Health, Information Technology or other related field. Valid Texas Driver's License reliable transportation with proof of current vehicle insurance, required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the Public Health ten essential functions. Knowledge of the HIPAA Privacy Act. Knowledge of the design and presentation of training programs. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Skills to use a computer with Microsoft Office for data entry, word processing and accounting purposes. Skills to operate small office equipment, including a multi-function copy machine, fax machine and multi-line telephone systems. Ability to work with a culturally diverse population. Ability to handle confidential information in an appropriate manner. Ability to travel out of town for trainings and seminars. Ability to work an after-hours schedule as required. Ability to drive to off-site locations including patient homes and meetings within Potter and Randall counties. Ability to quickly change focus and priorities to address competing priorities, as necessary. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public.
