Overview Aransas Pass for Youth, Inc. is seeking a dependable, organized, and mission-driven Youth Director to lead our youth programs, including our school-year latchkey program and seven-week summer camp. The Youth Director is responsible for creating a safe, supervised, positive environment for youth while supporting APFY's mission to provide recreation, literacy, social development, environmental awareness, and drug/crime prevention-focused programming for at-risk youth in Aransas Pass and surrounding areas. This position also plays an important role in the long-term sustainability of the organization through grant writing, fundraising, sponsorship development, donor relations, community networking, and support of major organizational fundraisers. Responsibilities Oversee daily operations of the school-year latchkey program and summer camp program Supervise youth participants, staff, seasonal employees, and volunteers Ensure child safety, proper supervision, check-in/check-out procedures, and incident reporting Plan and coordinate age-appropriate recreation, literacy, enrichment, and social development activities Communicate professionally with parents, guardians, staff, volunteers, and Board members Maintain accurate attendance, registration, incident, scholarship, and program records Assist with staff scheduling, training, and program organization Support fundraising efforts, grant opportunities, sponsorships, and community partnerships Participate in major organizational fundraisers, including Shrimporee-related fundraising when applicable Represent APFY at community meetings, presentations, networking events, and partner meetings Coordinate and attend monthly Board meetings and provide program updates to the Board of Directors Follow all APFY policies, child safety standards, and Board-approved procedures Skills Must be at least 21 years of age High school diploma or equivalent required Experience working with children, youth programs, recreation, childcare, education, or nonprofit programs preferred Experience supervising staff or volunteers preferred Must be able to pass required background checks Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record preferred, especially if transportation is required Strong communication, leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills Ability to work professionally with children, parents, staff, volunteers, donors, sponsors, community partners, and the Board of Directors CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain The ideal candidate is dependable, professional, compassionate, organized, and comfortable working with children and families. This person should be able to lead youth programs, communicate well with parents and the Board, build community relationships, assist with fundraising and grants, and represent APFY in a positive and professional manner.
