JOB SUMMARY
This is a Full-Time position that requires excellent communication and organizational skills, leadership ability, and the desire to work in a family friendly environment. The person selected for this position must be passionate about working closely with children and adults while supervising the day to day operations of the Youth Department including child care, camps, special events, birthday parties and all youth related programs, activities and services. This role is critical to maintaining the luxury standard and reputation of The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa while upholding the highest levels of discretion and professionalism.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Evaluate all department emergency and safety information Post new employee policies and procedures Ensure proper billing occurs on a daily basis Ensure the proper filing of all paperwork Assist with staff schedules Must adhere to all policies and procedures set forth in The Houstonian Employee Handbook. Must be a positive role model in all areas of the position. Communicate effectively with the Youth Manager, youth employees and all other department heads. Promote a safe and fun environment for all children. Provide ideas for new programs, activities and services. Assist in daily operations in the Bungalow and Kids Gym as needed including but not limited to changing diapers, sanitizing equipment and supplies, interacting with children and all front desk duties. Assist in the planning and implementation of all Youth Department events, services, programs and activities. Effectively communicate the policies and youth department guidelines to members and/or guests when necessary and enforce those guidelines. Build long-term relationships with the members and children serviced by The Houstonian. Perform all duties as assigned by the supervisor. Assist with member concerns, questions, comments and suggestions regarding the youth department and resolving any issues effectively and in a timely manner. Actively participate in all youth staff meetings Provide feedback and coaching to employees as necessary. Plan and supervise the implementation of a basic activity curriculum for The Bungalow and Kids Gym. Responsible for Youth Department in the absence of Youth Manager Must be able to work a flexible schedule Attends weekly club staff meetings as necessary Must be able to multi-task and handle multiple priorities effectively, with strong attention to detail Assist in training youth employees Must have solid leadership and judgment skills Performs all duties in a safe manner Other duties or tasks assigned by your supervisor that are related to the Youth Department and the Houstonian Campus
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
High school diploma or GED required. Four-year college degree in a related field preferred. 2-4 years of professional experience in childcare or related field preferred. Experience in Microsoft Office and related programs relative to maintaining appropriate records for the Youth Department. Administrative and leadership required. Must be available to work varied shifts, based on the needs of the business, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Licenses and/or certifications Current Adult/Child CPR and First Aid certification is required
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to meet the following minimum physical requirements for at least an eight-hour shift:
Physical Stamina:
Frequent standing, walking, climbing of ladders and stairs, kneeling, reaching overhead, lifting and carrying various objects weighing up to 35 lbs. Hearing /
Speech:
Must be able to effectively engage in one-on-one communication with guests, members, and customers and use a 2-way radio to communicate clearly and accurately with co-workers.
Vision:
Must be able to accurately read instructions, reports, and log sheets. Must be able to work with computers and PDAs in varying light conditions.
Literacy:
Must be able to analyze and process written information from a variety of sources and effectively communicate content of reports.
Chemicals/Agents :
Must be able to work safely with chemicals according to SDS sheets and all applicable laws, codes and regulatory requirements.
