Part-Time & Leadership Opportunities Available Located in the heart of Burlington, Vermont, King Street Center serves youth and families experiencing economic insecurity and systemic marginalization, with a focus on families from global majority communities in Burlington through afterschool programs, mentoring, early childhood education, and enrichment opportunities, we empower youth to explore their talents, develop confidence, and create bright futures. King Street Center is seeking enthusiastic, caring, and committed individuals to join our K-5 Afterschool Program team. We currently have openings for both Program Staff and Program Leads who are passionate about youth development, education, equity, and creating positive experiences for elementary-aged children. Available PositionsK-5 Program Staff Part-time, approximately 21 hours/week during the school year Typical schedule: Monday-Friday afternoons (must be available for at least 3 shifts per week)

Pay:

$19-$21/hour Additional hours available during school breaks and summer programming K-5 Program Lead Part-time, 30 hours/week, year-round

Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 12:00 PM-6:00

PM Pay:

$22-$24/hour Additional hours available during school breaks and summer programming What You'll Do Depending on the role, responsibilities may include: Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for elementary-aged youth Build positive relationships with students and families Lead and facilitate engaging educational, recreational, and enrichment activities Support literacy, math, homework help, and social-emotional learning Foster positive behavior and help students develop life skills Supervise youth during programming, transitions, field trips, and outdoor activities Collaborate with staff, volunteers, families, and community partners Maintain program spaces and ensure compliance with safety and licensing standards For Lead positions: supervise staff, support program planning, and help coordinate daily operations Qualifications We welcome candidates from a variety of backgrounds who are committed to equity, inclusion, and youth success.

Required:

High school diploma Experience working with children or youth Experience working with or strong understanding of BIPOC, immigrant, refugee, and/or low-income communities Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills Ability to work collaboratively and maintain professional standards Willingness to complete required background checks and trainings

Preferred:

Experience in afterschool, education, childcare, mentoring, or youth development settings Knowledge of child development and classroom management Experience supporting literacy, math, arts, enrichment, or social-emotional learning Leadership experience (Program Lead candidates) Trauma-informed, culturally responsive, or de-escalation training Valid driver's license (Program Lead candidates) Physical Requirements Staff participate in indoor and outdoor activities year-round, including active games, walks to neighborhood locations, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
