Mentoring at Twinfield The mission of Twinfield Together Mentoring Program is to create and support meaningful mentoring relationships and connections so that youth in our community are engaged and thriving. This mission is fulfilled through the following mentoring programs: Community Based Mentoring, School Based Mentoring, and Peer Based Mentoring. Position Summary
Position Overview:
The TTMP program director focuses on relationships, both within the school building and within the wider community. These relationships support student success as the program director pairs students in our PK-12 building with supportive adult mentors or peer mentors from our high school student cohort. The director is based out of the Twinfield building and is also expected to be out in the community, building relationships with community members and community organizations. The director collaborates with school staff to identify supportive mentor pairings and meets monthly with a volunteer advisory board. The board helps to advance the program's mission, develop a yearly sustainability plan, and maintain program integrity year to year. The program director also collects data to evaluate program effectiveness, adjusting programing as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain relationships with youth, mentors, and families Match students with building-based, community, or peer mentors Provide trainings and supports for mentors Organize activities for mentor pairs and support relationship development Job Duties
Administrative:
Manage grant funding including application and budgeting, tracking expenses, donations, and fundraising, and monitor success of program implementation Research and pursue funding opportunities relevant to mentoring and student well-being Provide regular program updates to advisory board, school administration, and families Engage in professional development to increase knowledge of best practices Maintain documentation of outreach, meetings, and mentor support provided. Maintain confidentiality of student and family information in accordance with district policy and legal requirements
Outreach, Recruitment, and Oversight:
Build positive relationships with families and community partners Promote mentoring program within local communities Oversee application, interview and background checks for all mentor applicants Organize onboarding trainings for new mentors Conduct monthly check-ins and on-going support as needed
Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with PK-12 school staff to support students through mentoring Collaborate with school-based wellness team to plan and implement monthly wellness community engagement events Develop partnerships with community organizations and agencies that provide services to children and families Maintain professional relationships with school colleagues and community partners Qualifications/Experience To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, in addition to the following:
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, volunteer management, education or a related field is preferred. Language Skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common educational procedures and regulations. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from parents, regulatory agencies, or members of the community. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals that conform to school/district standards or regulations. Ability to effectively present information to and respond to questions from administrators, parents, peers, board members, and the general public. Mathematical/Reasoning Skills. Ability to interpret and use test results by applying math concepts such as standard error of measurement, bands of confidence, standard scores, and percentiles. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Computer Skills and Experience. Good basic computer skills and experience with word processing programs required. Experience with Microsoft and Google preferred. Communication and Interpersonal Skills. Ability to efficiently, effectively, and regularly communicate and work cooperatively with a variety of individuals, including students, peers, subordinates, supervisors, parents, and representatives of outside organizations. Ability to effectively handle stressful situations and resolve conflicts. Physical Requirements The work environment is in a mixed environment, with moderate noise, temperatures that are controlled, and no exposure to chemicals or other negative air quality elements. The work is light/moderate work, requiring exertion of up to 30 pounds of force to move or lift objects.
