Job Description

Paid Facilitator (Squad Leader) -
Casper, WY Pay:
Total Stipend of $1,500 Positions available: 2 Are you passionate about building relationships, strengthening communities, and creating opportunities for youth to thrive? Do you enjoy connecting with people and helping young people explore the world around them? Are you a teacher, educator, youth worker, or someone who enjoys working with kids? This is a great opportunity to use your skills and experience to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people. Squad Leaders run Girl Scout meetings where they prepare and facilitate fun, hands-on activities for participants to earn badges. Squad Leaders will host three Caregiver Engagement Events held outside of - or in place of - regular troop meetings; supporting engagement throughout the program year. This role includes promoting the Girl Scout mission and values, ensuring the safety and well-being of participants, managing troop resources responsibly, and contributing to the continuous improvement of the program. This role requires an estimated commitment of 6-8 hours per month.
Annual Structure:
During September, Squad Leaders are required to complete a background check and required training. Squad leaders will lead troop meetings twice a month from October through May. They will not be required to perform any duties over the summer.
SQUAD LEADER
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead 2 monthly troop meetings, each with a minimum duration of 1 hour
  • Communicate with Girl Scouts, caregivers, school and district administrators, volunteers, and GSMW council staff
  • Utilize Girl Scout Experience Boxes (GSEB) to plan and facilitate meetings
  • Effectively instruct Girl Scouts on the daily goal and project
  • Plan and participate in three Caregiver Engagement Events throughout the school year that may not occur during typical meeting times
  • Support Girl Scouts who wish to engage in entrepreneur opportunities like Cookie Season and Fall Product Program
  • Guide and support Girl Scouts in earning badges
  • Align with the Girl Scout mission, promise and law
  • This position may include outdoor, hands-on, and STEM-focused activities
  • Experience/Education
  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field required; teaching or youth-focused experience preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years working with youth or in youth related programs preferred
  • Required to complete GSUSA and partner site required trainings before their first troop meeting
  • Girl Scout Experience preferred
  • Ability to engage with girls in grades K-3 - meeting them with excitement, curiosity, and patience
  • Able to manage a group of 6-20 girls
  • Willingness to work with volunteers, assigning their duties for each meeting while helping them feel welcome and valued.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Commitment to consistency, reliability and a positive attitude
  • Able to develop ideas, think creatively with direction to promote campaigns, programs, and objectives
  • Adult Girl Scout Membership in year 1
