Casper, WY Position type: Full-time, one-year AmeriCorps VISTA service position Eat Wyo VISTA Position Summary Eat Wyoming (Eat Wyo & Casper Community Garden), based in Casper, connects Wyoming farmers, ranchers, and food producers with consumers through an online farmers market, storefront, delivery services, and community pickup locations. The organization works to make locally grown food easier to access while helping producers expand their marketing, sales, e-commerce, and distribution capacity. The AmeriCorps VISTA member will help Eat Wyo strengthen Wyoming's local food system by building partnerships, increasing community awareness, and expanding connections between local producers and consumers. The VISTA will support outreach, communications, resource development, data collection, and the creation of sustainable systems that improve access to locally grown food. Through this service, the member will help Wyoming farmers, ranchers, and food producers reach new customers, strengthen their businesses, and contribute to more resilient communities across the state. Member Duties The AmeriCorps VISTA member will build Eat Wyoming and the Casper Community Garden's capacity to improve food access, support local producers, and serve community members experiencing economic barriers. The VISTA member may support work such as: Developing outreach and marketing materials that increase awareness of local food, garden, greenhouse, and educational programs Identifying grant opportunities and assisting with grant narratives, fundraising materials, and reusable resource-development templates Reviewing and improving systems for collecting, organizing, and analyzing program, participant, volunteer, producer, and partner data Creating tools to measure program outcomes, food-access efforts, community engagement, and long-term impact Developing volunteer position descriptions, recruitment materials, onboarding processes, and retention strategies Creating volunteer orientation and training materials that Eat Wyoming staff can continue using after the VISTA service term Building and strengthening partnerships with local producers, schools, nonprofit organizations, community groups, and other stakeholders Supporting outreach strategies that connect individuals and families experiencing economic barriers with fresh, locally produced food and educational resources Reviewing and strengthening internal policies, procedures, guides, and workflows to improve program consistency and efficiency Helping develop sustainable systems that support greenhouse education, community gardening, nutrition education, and workforce-development opportunities Creating templates, guides, and other reusable resources that strengthen organizational operations and support continued growth Documenting processes and providing recommendations that help Eat Wyoming expand its reach, retain organizational knowledge, and sustain its anti-poverty work beyond the VISTA term Preferred Qualifications Strong written and verbal communication skills Good organizational, time-management, and project-management skills Ability to manage multiple projects and keep records, data, and resources organized Comfortable working independently and collaborating with staff, volunteers, local producers, schools, and community partners Basic computer skills, including email, spreadsheets, shared documents, data entry, and online communication tools Interest in local food systems, food access, agriculture, gardening, nutrition education, community development, or public service Ability to create clear and engaging outreach, marketing, training, or educational materials Willingness to learn new systems and help improve existing processes Ability to build positive relationships with people from a variety of backgrounds, including farmers, ranchers, food producers, volunteers, and community members Dependable, adaptable, and able to move projects from planning through completion Comfortable collecting, organizing, and reviewing information to help demonstrate program outcomes and community impact Experience with grant writing, fundraising, volunteer coordination, marketing, community outreach, partnership development, or data management is helpful but not required Experience with agriculture, gardening, greenhouse operations, food distribution, e-commerce, or nonprofit work is beneficial but not required AmeriCorps VISTA Benefits Current Wyoming living allowance of $983.36 gross every two weeks , subject to applicable AmeriCorps rates Health benefits during service Training and professional-development opportunities 10 personal-leave days and 10 medical-leave days Childcare assistance, if eligible Upon successful completion, the choice of a $7,395 Segal AmeriCorps Education Award or a $1,800 end-of-service cash stipend One year of noncompetitive eligibility for certain federal positions after successful completion of service Ability to attend school or work another job during non-service hours, consistent with AmeriCorps requirements Position Requirements This is a full-time , one-year national-service position and is not traditional salaried employment. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, meet all AmeriCorps VISTA eligibility and enrollment requirements, and successfully complete the criminal history screening required by AmeriCorps before beginning service.
