Unlike most general contractors, Ironwood Commercial Builders, Inc. self-performs several facets of construction, including but not limited to light gauge metal framing and drywall, weather barrier, fireproofing, lath and plaster, as well as custom interior Venetian and historical plaster. Job Summary We are seeking a Director of Project Management to lead and develop our project management team. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has spent their career in the field and in the office managing drywall and metal framing projects, and is now ready to build systems, mentor PMs, and drive operational excellence across our project portfolio. Must have experience in Drywall and Metal Framing project management. This position is based full-time, in-person at our Concord, CA office and active project sites. This is not a remote or hybrid position. Responsibilities Provide leadership, mentorship, and day-to-day oversight of the Project Management department, including senior PMs, PMs, and project engineers Own project delivery outcomes across the company's active project portfolio — schedule, budget, quality, and safety Review and approve project budgets, cost forecasts, change orders, and monthly billings before they go to ownership/clients Establish and standardize project management processes, templates, and best practices specific to self-perform drywall and metal framing scopes Partner with estimating and preconstruction teams to review bids, buyout strategy, and constructability prior to award Serve as an escalation point for project risks, disputes, and client relationship issues Conduct regular project reviews with PMs to track progress against schedule, budget (WIP), and manpower/labor productivity Support recruiting, onboarding, and professional development of the PM staff; identify training needs and career growth paths Maintain strong relationships with GCs, owners, architects, and key subcontractors/suppliers Ensure compliance with contract terms, safety standards, and quality control requirements across all active projects Collaborate with field operations (superintendents, foremen) to align project management and field execution Report project portfolio health and key metrics to executive leadership Qualifications Minimum 8 years of experience as a Senior Project Manager specializing in Drywall and Metal Framing with a self-performing commercial contractor (required) Proven track record managing multiple concurrent commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout Strong understanding of self-perform labor tracking, productivity analysis, and field cost control Deep knowledge of drywall/metal framing means and methods, materials, and industry standards Experience managing project budgets, change orders, billings (AIA
