Join a Growing Architecture Firm Ultimate Drafting Inc. is seeking a motivated, organized, and tech-savvy Architectural Field Coordinator / Permit Runner to help keep our architectural projects moving forward from concept to permit approval. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a combination of field work, project coordination, city permitting, technology, and architecture. You'll work directly with experienced drafting and design professionals while gaining hands-on exposure to real-world residential and commercial projects throughout Los Angeles County. Every day is different. One day you may be measuring an existing property, the next you're coordinating with a city planner, documenting construction progress, or helping streamline project communication using modern technology and AI tools. What You'll Do Field Operations & Site Visits Visit residential and commercial project sites to take accurate field measurements of existing structures. Document construction progress through clear, organized site photography. Collect project information needed by our design and drafting team. Coordinate field visits and maintain organized project records. Permitting & City Coordination Submit architectural plans to local building departments. • Track permit and plan-check statuses.• Pick up approved permits and city documents. Communicate with building, planning, and zoning departments. Research setbacks, zoning requirements, and local development regulations. Technology & Project Coordination Upload and organize field measurements, photos, permits, and project documentation. Maintain accurate digital project records using cloud-based tools. Provide real-time updates to project team members regarding permit progress and project status. Use modern AI tools to summarize notes, draft professional correspondence, organize information, and improve workflow efficiency. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications Valid California driver's license. Reliable vehicle available for daily travel. Strong organizational and communication skills. Comfortable interacting professionally with clients, contractors, and city officials. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Comfortable using computers, smartphones, cloud storage platforms, and business software. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks throughout the day. Preferred Qualifications Experience with permit processing or permit expediting. Experience reading blueprints, construction drawings, or architectural plans. Familiarity with local building departments and municipalities in Los Angeles County. Construction, architecture, engineering, surveying, or project coordination experience. Experience using AI productivity tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, or similar applications.
