Long-Term Career Progression + backlog of work We are partnering with an established Southern California general contractor to hire an Assistant Project Manager for its growing life science construction team in San Diego. The company specializes in healthcare and life science construction, delivering projects for hospitals, pharmaceutical, biotech and other institutional clients across Southern California. It has built a strong base of repeat clients and has a growing pipeline of work across San Diego. This is an opportunity to join a smaller, established contractor where APMs get meaningful exposure to projects and work closely with experienced Project Managers, Superintendents and senior leadership. The Role Support the delivery of life science construction projects across San Diego Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with day-to-day project coordination Manage RFIs, submittals, change documentation and project records Coordinate with subcontractors, consultants, architects and internal project teams Assist with procurement, scheduling, cost tracking and project reporting Review drawings, specifications and other construction documents Help identify and resolve project issues before they impact schedule or delivery Support projects from preconstruction and mobilization through closeout Develop toward increased project management responsibility as experience grows What We're Looking For Experience working for a general contractor in a Senior Project Engineer, APM or similar construction role Life science construction experience needed (GC side - not owners rep) Exposure to commercial projects of meaningful size and complexity Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or a related field preferred Strong understanding of construction documentation and project coordination Good communication and organizational skills Ability to work effectively with project management, field teams and subcontractors Stable employment history preferred San Diego or wider Southern California construction experience beneficial What's on Offer Base salary of up to $130,000 depending on experience Annual/project-based bonus opportunities Medical, dental and vision insurance 401(k) with up to 5% employer match Paid vacation starting at two weeks Paid holidays Long-term life science project pipeline Clear opportunity to develop toward Project Management Exposure to an experienced leadership and project delivery team If you are interested in applying, please apply directly with a project list and resume.
